We had a lovely evening with live music out on the patio. Our large group enjoyed a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, and drinks. Service was very good, considering the size of our group. (They will not split checks for parties over ten, so be prepared for that). Prices were reasonable.

These guys are the worst. I'm a homeless, disabled veteran. I reached out for help, John & Frank both called me & really buttered ne up, they told me they were going to help me the very next day. They were going to help me stay in a hotel, help me with a security deposit & so on. Well the very next day they both ghosted me. I called them for several days & they never returned my phone callz, nothing. I even ask them, could they tell me why they ghosted me, nothing. So awfulAs far as there reply. They know that's not true. So sad to lie
I've been going there to get my Queen of hearts tickets I heard the food was good a friend and I ate lunch there it wasn't good at all I had fried shrimp shrimp were small looked big because they had lots of breading there was an oil after taste when he didn't shrimp like the oil that was fried and needed to be changed possibly and I thought it was a little bit pricey for a VFW will continue getting my tickets but no more food sorry to say there are many many restaurants in McHenry Illinois so you have choices

As a rule, we love to eat at the VFW. My food was delicious and hot. My sister's food wasn't good this time. Her food came out about 30 minutes later than the rest of us. It was cold and the hand made pasta wasn't fully cooked. The noodles were very hard. The manager came out and removed the item from our bill. The server did a great job. We plan to return because this was not indicative of the norm and we love that the money benefits vets.
Came here for a painting class , which was a great class and the instructors had super nice personalities. A couple people from the class were allowed to order food from the kitchen before we were told that none of us could. I guess they make enough money with their “Queen of hearts” that they don’t care how they treat guests to the building. Would take another class but probably wouldn’t return here
We came for lunch on a Sunday and one of the items ordered was pizza. Its half price on Sundays, but expect the toppings to be also. A mushroom, sausage, onion and green pepper was what I wanted but needed a magnifying glass to find most of the items. The cheese was spread so thin you could see sauce throughout the pizza. I believe there to be 5 mushroom pieces with an equal amout of peppets. I could only locate 3 onion bits and the pizza lacked everything, mostly flavor. But if you like thin crust, you'll get it, but a bit soggy. The bbq western burger was okay, but nothing special. The pork chop was okay, mashed potatoes were not served with gravy, dont ask they dont have any. I waited for 20 minutes for butter for them, then they were cold. Service was horrible. Wrong items being brought out for patrons. I have had much better at other VFWs for a lot less.
