We don't go to mchenry very often but our son was taking driving lessons out that way, we knew we had at least an hour to spare.We weren't in the mood for the other bars in the area so we decided on here.Food was horrible we ordered quesadilla burger for me it was so pail and flavorless, stingy on your fries for what the plate costs. My wife ordered some pretzel sticks with some horrible dip, we just ate the pretzels, just very blah in food. You won't be in business very long if you don't put a bit more effort in making fresh good food.My bill was $50 I was more so upset that I had to pay for the type of food that was served to us. We tipped it wasn't the servers fault you guys can't serve better fresh food. Glad we don't go there at all.2 stars was for the server really...
this place was a joke to say the least, waited over an hour for our food, they didn’t even put one of our dinner orders in so that took an extra 20 minutes. appetizers came right before the dinner. manager came out and said desert is on him, but i was told my desert would be a couple more minutes and we ended up just leaving because of how long it was taking !!!! i wouldn’t waste my time or money ever on this place
Probably last time I'll come here based on the food quality. My family of 4 came starving, waitress and other staff was pretty attentive. Problem is food came out looking like a school lunch or packaged like a Swanson dinner. These days, with everything costing more, you have to substantiate what your charging for. Pre-made meals that weren't evenly heated (not cooked), and looked like a parallel move from a burger King isn't it.
Only thing worse then the food was the service.Bad enough the food was flavorless. But the rude server paid no attention to my wife and I. Had to ask 3 times for a refill of iced tea, but she brought others their refills. Then when we paid, she forgot to give me back my debit card.When I asked for a manager I was told there was no manager working that day ( Sunday 2/27/22)So needless to say....... I will never return.
Ordered food through DoorDash, my boyfriend ordered the three cheese chicken penne and was met with a piece of metal when he got 4 bites into it. Needless to say it ruined our appetite. Couldn’t tell you about the rest of the food was honestly afraid to look.
I visited the place for the first time after months. I like the food in here and I really miss it. It is definitely one of the clean places I could go to in the area that really gives a nice and cozy ambiance. The staffs in here before are very accommodating and friendly but it is the opposite now. The staff did not greet me at all and it took a while before I was assisted by the staff. I did not mind it because I am really looking forward to their food. I ordered a broccoli chicken alfredo and that is my only order but it did take a long while before it was served. The broccoli chicken alfredo is so good and I definitely like it. It is served with a delicious and fresh breadstick. I did enjoy the food but I cannot skip the fact that I experienced a not so good customer service in this restaurant. Their food is really great and the opposite when it comes to their service. I like this restaurant but I would definitely think twice before going in here when they have this kind of customer service.
Me and my friend and his wife went here for dinner it's was ok but they way over cook my steak I asked some medium rare they gave me leather belt inside as Hank Hill says I should ask them framily but gradually to leave
Stopped in after some Christmas shopping. Had their great quesadilla burger and glass of wine. The staff are always friendly and take good care of you.
Edit: Only for my last experience, which was curbside pickup. It's my husband's and my anniversary, so we figured Applebee's of course. We were in a hurry though so we ordered curbside pickup. It said it would be ready at 7:46. We got there at 7:47 and checked in. We waited over 12 minutes and I went in to see what was going on. I guess something was up with the broccoli. I went back out and wait another 5 minutes. Both staff members that I spoke with were very polite, apologetic, and kind. I wouldn't even be writing this had it not gotten worse when we got home and went to eat it. 1 steak was supposed to be medium and the other medium well... Both were very red/dark pink and I ended up having to microwave them. Yuck. Also, 1 side of broccoli was great, however the other was disgusting, smushed, and almost soup like. The food barely had any flavor. Applebee's is usually our go to, but these meals just tasted very bland and boring. There was nothing special or satisfying about it. ☹️ It's disappointing because we were really looking forward to getting home and enjoying it. For me to give only ⭐⭐'s is very, VERY rare.I love Applebees. Unfortunately my experience this visit was flawed. Our steaks weren't cooked as we asked for (rather than medium well I was given almost rare) and started eating it without realizing it at first. The waiter came to check up on us and I told him about the steak, so he, apologized and went to get the manager. The manager came over and saw my steak and asked my husband if she could see his. His was also a little off, but not too bad. She kindly offered us new meals each and allowed us to keep the other ones so that we could heat them up at home. When the new steaks arrived the manager asked us to check them to make sure they were ok, so we sliced them open. I could see the manager become a little irritated on our behalf, because my husbands steak was now wrong and she realized that they accidentally brought us 6oz steaks rather than the 8oz ones we had ordered. I could tell she felt bad, especially since we had let them know before our replacements were ready that we were having to rush to get home to let our babysitter go. So, she had the kitchen make us a few sides real quick and put our, then take home, meal on the house. We still wanted to leave the wonderful waiter a tip, so she gave us .01c bill for us to do so. Then, as I tried to pay at the table, the machine was having issues and not allowing me to. At this point everything just became hysterical. I couldn't help but laugh at how much everything was going wrong. Despite everything going wrong, though, the kindness and professionalism of the employees made it a good experience.
Food took a long time coming out, it was cold! Staff seemed very confused.
