Came in from outta town and gave this place a try since it was rated so well. There was not a wait and getting us seated was fine. Once the order was placed we did not see our waitress for what seemed like a long time. The cook brought the food out and I sat with an empty cup before we saw the wait staff again. And even that was because the cook went and told her she needed to attend her table. My food was cold (baked mastacolli) and the nachos were covered in congealed cheese from solidifying under a heat lamp. We did not get our sauces with our food and the waitress stayed scarce. The cook took my food to reheat and it was still cold when I got it so I boxed it up to take back and heat in the microwave. Wish I had a better experience but it is what it is.
Went there for the first time today and it was awesome. I would’ve eaten the whole pizza but would’ve needed to to take nap immediately. Seriously though service was great and food hit the hungry spot and filled me up.
There are many places to get pizza in Marion. Walt's is one of the original places, and one of the best. The decor is straight out of the 1970's, with dark wood paneling throughout. There are booths and tables available for mobility restricted people, but we had a few steps to navigate after entry to find our table. Once there, our table appeared to be an add-on to the area - it didn't quite match the decor, and was unstable. Luckily there was no-one seated at the additional table behind us.All that said, the food was very good. We shared a pizza, and salad was available as an add-on. Others in our party had appetizers which, while fairly standard fare, appeared tasty and didn't last long. Our server was attentive and extremely helpful when it came time to split the bill.I've gotten specialty pizzas from Walt's - they make a wonderful Reuben pizza for St. Patrick's Day, and I would go back again. I might think twice about dining in during a busy weekend, and I would be very specific about seating requirements if I had someone with mobility issues, but the food is worth the trouble.
We were seated before 8pm last night. Had a table of 6. They were a little busy, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say, my 3 year old son was fed last. He finally got food at 9:20pm. People that sat down after us left before our son even got his food. I saw a gentleman at another table have to go get his own refill and to go box. Our appetizer Taco Nachos came out could with the rest of our food. The side salads came out after food as well. We had to give a reminder. My wife ordered a chicken salad. She's been awake since 3am with bathroom troubles coming out both ways. We weren't offered to comp any if our food. We finally left at 9:45pm it was a horrible experience all the way around. Our server Anthony wasn't at fault. He was as good as he could've been. Just beware everyone. Update everyone got sick from it that was at our table besides our 3 year old. Throwing up, diarrhea, fever. I had to miss a day and a half of work! No one go to walts ever!!!!
Extremely poor service. Waitress complained the entire evening about how short staffed they were and about how she was getting worked to death. Ordered the salad bar with our food, no bowls available. A party member retrieved salad bowls himself for our entire group. My son ordered fettuccine Alfredo which the waitress said wasn’t on the menu any longer but still available. She came back and asked if he wanted steak or chicken with his Alfredo. He chose steak. He was given a $26 plate of nasty grey noodles covered with cream of mushroom soup with a small side of sliced meat. He did not ask for mushroom stroganoff. He asked for fettuccini Alfredo. I asked the waitress if they made fettuccine without mushrooms and she actually said she has no idea who would put mushrooms in an Alfredo dish and she would ask for the cook to remake it. I thought life would be fine. He ate his “steak” while he waited for his Alfredo. Nope life was not fine. My son was given a bowl of noodles covered in a tasteless watery powdered milk product that was completely inedible. No apologies. No service recovery. No offer to make things right at all. The whole situation was an obvious imposition to the manager who made faces at me while thinking about what she was going to do. In the end she discounted the meal by $2 and I chose not to argue. What a huge disappointment. I return home to Southern Illinois 3 to 4 times per year and Waltz has always been a mandatory stop. Unfortunately looks like Quatro’s just gained a customer. I realize times have been difficult across the board but this was completely unacceptable.
the food isn't great. the service could be better. the atmosphere was loud and obnoxious. the young lady that seated us didn't even speak. I work in a very public setting and this would never be tolerated. I hadn't been there in 20 years and probably won't go back.
I got the lunch special which was a slice of pizza and a salad. Pizza seemed like a leftover and not hot. Not much of a selection of salad dressing but salad was fresh and good. No buffet which was the reason we went and the patio was closed. The nachos appetizer was really good tho.
Personally, I think this is the best pizza in town. So much so that's the only thing I order off the menu. Very often the staff makes you feel welcome. Give this place a shot if you already haven't.
The Double Decker pizza at Walt's has been around since I was a kid. Throughout the years I've eaten there from time to time when I come into town, it's always good, but something's changed. I'm not a child anymore I like to drink beer, and now I can drink beer there. It makes for a delicious meal! So do yourself a favor if you're an adult. Go to Walt's Pizza and order a Double Decker pizza, and a pitcher of beer. And tell them that Justin Emerson, nephew of the late great Lisa Segretario-Niggeman, said come get it here.
Between not providing noodles in the Shrimp Scampi. Even in the photos of the Scampi, it shows noodles. When the order arrived it was and quit literally an Two weeks orange slice, Two week old piece of lettuce, FROZEN butter. And to put the cherry on top. The shrimp was very very over cooked . Also didn’t even receive the correct pizza??♂️ I’d leave one star but the waitresses were on point! Drinks were fast, service was fast, They were great!
