After my dad’s funeral on Saturday, we had a late lunch here. There was a group of 30. The service was excellent and the food was great. Ashley P. was our waitress. She was the only waitress that day. I was impressed with her attitude and the attention she gave all of us. The food was great and came out hot. Thanks for doing an excellent meal for my family.
My friend and I wanted to find a place just to sit and have a cup of coffee and chat we ordered a piece of pie to split it was definitely not homemade. It wasn't homemade coconut cream. It was a Marie Callender's slice of pie because I bought them before and that's what we were being served. Regarding their menu their food is delicious love their fish and BBQs and sides you get with the meal with all you can eat fish, ribs, or shrimp.
We went here March 18th 2022 at 730 PM. They close at 8 but we knew that we were going to order fish. We had a Party of 4, two adults and two children. We get sat by the hostess. We wait a couple minutes and the waitress comes over to the table and tells us that there are 5 orders in front of us and the cook doesn't feel like cooking any more and they will not serve us. The restaurant was about 30% filled and every table had their food. It was embarrassing and a total waste of time.
At first bite I was peeved (sandwich came out of the kitchen cold) that the sandwich was more chopped than pulled. I generally love the flavor of a pulled, less greasy bbq sandwich, but I can imagine a fresh & at- the- least WARM sandwich would taste real good from TRIP E. The SWEET 'E' sauce is pretty good and combined with the smoke flavor- sandwich it woke up my taste buds for a plentiful lunch. Great catfish here (actually better than the bbq sandwich) and a decent pup (1, for $20, but tasty like grandma used to cook e'm) and decent mustard- based potato salad. TRIP E, better than most bbq- imposters (that believe they can "smoke") in the southern USA. I hope when I try next, I can get a hit sandwich and upgrade this thing to a 5 star! Decent condiment- sides (Maters & pickles & onions for winter time
The steak felt like jerky but it was not tasty like jerky . My husband had the fish he said it tasted old . When we first got there we didn't realize how truly gross this place is because we were distracted by a 4 year old . After ordering we noticed meat bones on the floor and dirt everywhere . The floor was slippery you could tell they hadn't cleaned it in a couple weeks . Worst restaurant I have ever been to and I have dined in 3rd world countries :( I'm seriously concerned if the dining area was that gross how scary is the kitchen . Zoom in on the pic with the table you will see bones and napkins all over the floor . And nobody was at that table the whole time we were there . This place was sketchy and gross.
Waited for our food was not good chicken strip was dark fries was cold. My husband got all you could eat fish the baked potatoes was cold the Waitress didn’t wanna come to our table. There was other people that was waiting on fish and didn’t get it. So we left . There was three ladies and two of them was working and the other one was not she was just standing around. When she could have help the others out. The ladies didn’t know who was up on the table next.
My food was cool and dry when I received it. They took it back and prepared new, but still dry and mashed potatoes didn't have much taste. The rest of the table had great food.
The waitress, Otika, was awesome, she had a full restaurant by herself and was polite and got her job done well. Very impressive. Food was awesome as always, hot and fresh. Even their salads are good. Definitely a must try if you're visiting So ILL! It's a long time staple of the area. Tuesday night is 2.50 BBQ sandwich night and those are huge and delicious.
Believe it or not, the bake beans and fries were the best thing . The baby back ribs were tasteless no salt at all and no seasonings. In fact the meat tasted like it was borderline spoiled. I called to tell them and they didn't even offer to get a different meat. Very disappointed.
