We had been wanting to try this place since we heard it was opened. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. Our waitress was amazing and answered the few questions we had.We did get the pork belly and vegetable option for the barbecue, and while it didn't look like much it was more then enough with the addition of appetizers! Not to mention the red bean bingsu was incredible. A large portion of the dessert for a great price, and very light.Seems like a good place to bring friends and have a good chat over food.
We were really looking forward to this visit. Walking in was very impressive. Nicely decorated & obviously a big investment Their appeared to be a lot of good staff. The servers & staff were very good. But…….The food quality was very disappointing. I’ve had Korean short ribs & always seems their specialty. However, these were very chewy-tough & without flavor. $35 should buy you much better quality. The pork belly = same . The fried chicken offered more breading than chicken meat.We were really hoping for their Rockford success. They will have to up their buying quality to maintain business levels once the novelty has run its course.
Sat a bar. Call ahead, constantly busy and asked for reservations. Great, friendly service.Pros:Wonderful recommendation from server for a noodle dish, decent amount of food, very delicious and different.Great Korean Lager (though I am a little confused since it is from Australia and contained no Korean markings on the bottle)Cons:Some dishes are very pricey, fiery chicken dish is a “challenge” dish, not sure right in the middle of the menu people would catch that.Observed some people cooking their own food. While this is a korean thing, to me, I am not going to pay $50-$70 to cook my own food.
Nice place, delicious food, could have served more side dish though especially kimchi. Will go back to try the chicken that I heard is good ?
The spicy fried chicken is amazing. The mix of spices and heat is unlike anything I have ever eaten before. The breading is so crispy and the chicken is cooked perfect, nice and juicy. We also had the combo #2- Short ribs couldn't be better and each cut of meat had a distinct delicious flavor. I will absolutely be back and will recommend to everyone I know. Kudos, 5 stars is too low of a score!
The food and atmosphere is awesome ? The Korean fried chicken literally was the best I have ever eaten. In addition I ordered the six meat combination. The grill is placed at the table, so all of the meat is self cooked at the table. The sides are served ready to eat and comes with vegetables, dipping sauce and rice. KBQ restaurant is worth the money. I highly recommend. As a side note you have to make reservations to eat here. Its extremely busy.
The service was above average. Our server was very helpful in making recommendations for the best dining options. Patrons prepare their own meals at their table on a small grill that is built into the table. There are unlimited side dishes with the combo meals, that are fairly priced for the amount of food that is included. Altogether, I enjoyed the meal. I would recommend this restaurant for couples and small groups.
Growing up in Chicago, I will have Korean food very frequently but since moving to Rockford, I just haven't been able to go as often. I had wished for so long that some day there would be a place a could go to here in Rockford to eat Korean food. Well, I'm glad this place is here now, and wow, they definitely have very delicious food choices. I so highly recommend this place, and as far as the price you pay, it's definitely worth it. I can't wait to come back again, and by the way their fried chicken is the best. We ordered the half and half because we wanted to try both flavors and they were both delicious, two thumbs up.
Definitely a neat experience, we had a great time cooking on the grill top while having a great conversation. I ordered pork belly and vegetables and she ordered one of the pancakes along with a couple other dishes. The food was high quality and fresh and we had pretty good wait service for it being completely packed. Will be back for a round 2 to try some hotpot
It was our first visit to a Korean BBQ and we enjoyed it very much. We will definitely return. Service was excellent and our server explained everything we needed to know and answered all of our questions. Atmosphere was great!
