We called on a sunny Saturday at 11 am and were told that there was no wait time (we should’ve known just by this that the restaurant isn’t all the hype that the reviews make it to be). The ambiance and decor was nice - it’s a cute and cozy spot. We were given a table right when we entered. We ordered the stuffed French toast, which in fact is NOT stuffed. It’s just regular French toast with a cream cheese drizzle so the name is definitely misleading and disappointing. We were charged $2 each for the banana and strawberry topping but we only got like 10 slices of each fruit on the French toast. One full banana at the grocery store costs about $25 cents but they’re charging $2 for 1/3 of a banana and $2 for 2 strawberries. The food in general was VERY average tasting. You can find better options in the Lombard area. The French toast wasn’t very sweet - it tasted like bread was lightly battered in egg. They also charge $3.50 just for plain scrambled egg whites, which was a side. The coffee was just straight up brewed black coffee but they charge $3 per cup. You can get lattes and cappuccinos for this price at other local cafes and restaurants. I wouldn’t come here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The waitress was very nice and the service was good though.
Had the Paradise Swedish pancakes and a side of corned beef hash, and countrified steak with biscuits and gravy. It was delicious. I appreciate the candidness of our waitress and they food came out quickly and was delicious and reasonably priced. Will recommend/eat here again.
It was my first time there and it was horrible. Slow service, bland and burned food. It was very crowded so got a horrible table right by the entrance. The chairs looked dingy and weren't comfortable at all. I could feel every vibration of the floor when someone walked by. Service was Horrible where she gave one cup of coffee and then took another 10 min to bring the second cup plus creamers. Omelette was dry and potatoes burned plus she forgot the toast until asked for it. No butter or creamers on the table. It was like sitting in the middle of street with horrible but expensive food. I guess it was crowded due to the fact that no other breakfast place is nearby. Never returning there again!! Giving one star only because can’t post the review otherwise
First time here & we’ve found our new breakfast spot! I had a really hard time deciding between the bacon/chocolate chip pancakes; avocado/bacon omelette; apple French toast & avocado Benedict, so I let our server Teri choose. She offered to add chocolate chips to my cakes to incorporate the savory, salty & sweet in one meal. Everything was fresh & delicious. Teri & staff were very tentative to our needs. As a former server training coach from a big restaurant chain, it’s nice to see this place takes their guest service just as serious. Oh, the decor is really cute & there’s a small breakfast bar too! We look forward to our next visit!
Lovely staff, and good food. We've been coming here from before it was Egg House, and it's a cute place (very nice redesign, but not so bad before). We know what we like, but every now and then try something new, there is a good variety of breakfast items served all day and lunch items. It can be busy on the weekends especially, but they the wait isn't ever too long. They do not have a waiting area so be ready to hang out outside or in your car if needed.
The service I received was impeccable. Food was super delicious. Very friendly staff. Would definitely go again! Definitely recommend!
Today was the first time my husband and I stopped by Egg House. The first impression was CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! We were quickly seated in a booth and our server was so friendly and attentive. We ordered skillets and pancakes. The portions were large - my steak skillet was delicious. The hash browns, vegetables and eggs were cooked to perfection and the steak was so tender. Having celiac, I was thrilled to be able to order gluten free toast! Definitely try the fresh squeezed orange juice too - so good! I would give it ten stars if I could - can't wait to return again!
Delicious! Lightest and fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. Skillet was also really good. Highly recommend it.
The food isn't bad. The issue we had is ordering the food. I had to call twice because the first time no one answered. The woman who answered seemed to have issues understanding me. She repeated my order and it sounded correct. But once we got our food we realized she did not understand me. We got so much extra food it's crazy. Since we were in a hurry we didn't double check thr food at the restaurant. Which was our mistake, especially considering the restaurant was charging us around $50 for only two meals. Once we got our food we realized she ordered double of one meal and quadrupled a side order. Again, food is good but that service put us off from that place.
It breaks my heart to see what happened to the quality of the food here. I raved to everyone that this is the place to go for breakfast hands down. Well now I have to take it all back . The service is still stellar however the food has dropped off so much that I don’t see myself going there anymore. If I am now having to pay more than their quality should reflect the prices pandemic or not . I have given them multiple try’s to clean up their issues of late and to my opinion they are still peddling backwards. It’s just a shame.
