Everything was small but also pricey. I'd give it 3/5 stars as the food wasn't horrible but $13 for a very tiny margarita didn't sit well with me.The elote dip also tastes super fishy for some reason. Not sure if I'll return. Our server was wonderful though.
This place is so delicious. The food is fun and shareable and the drinks are made from scratch and so great! The decor is fun and it’s super clean. My only complaint is that we called ahead to see if they would accommodate kids (we ended up in the area with our 7 and 9 year olds but normally wouldn’t bring them here) and I was told that they could make simple tacos or quesadillas. When we ordered though, the poor waiter looked really nervous and said that the kitchen would likely refuse the order. I mean, he seemed really nervous to even inquire for some reason, which leads me to believe this happens often enough. Instead of any of the spicy/saucey multi layered (and awesome) tacos, all I wanted was bean and cheese taco for my kid. It ended up being this big ordeal BUT we were told they’d make an exception just this once as it was slower but not again. We ended up ordered a ton of other food for the adults and it was perfect. So we left happy and will be back for dates etc for sure. That’s all good and fine, and we now know we can only come here when our kids are elsewhere, but come on, not a single kids item available? I know kids don’t have to be everywhere but at least a couple of upscale places on the main drag have a handful of simple kids items (Maize + Mash and Fire and Wine) and even spots like Ruth’s Chris have a kid option. We tried to just do guacamole for them instead but everything came with chilis with no substitutions. If they would have told me they cannot make anything for them I simply would have chosen another spot for dinner. All in all we love this place and highly HIGHLY recommend it but not if you have kids with simple tastes.
I have been talking this place up for years to a friend of mine and we finally had the chance to go on Saturday night. When we arrived it was a two hour wait for a walk-in party of two, thought that was crazy but I know they are smaller and probably reservation heavy so we waited for a spot at the bar. Once we sat, we sat….probably 15 minutes before being acknowledged, no menus, water or even eye contact to let us know the bartender saw us. There are three of them back there with maybe 12 seats total, how we were missed I have no idea. Finally we flag down a bartender and get some drinks rolling. We were able to order food quickly and of course this places food never disappoints. Now come to the end of our meal and we try to order another round and the bartender forgets about it, makes the two new couples around us drinks and we get ignored again, for twenty minutes. So we paid the tab and left. Both of us are in the industry so know how tricky this is for management to hire and retain staff but there are 12 seats, that’s 6 bar guests for each bartender and one Bartender on service well. Even the one manager was back there doing dishes. Honestly was just disappointed they dropped the ball this time and maybe won’t be so quick to refer people or come back.
Food was delicious & our server was very informative. The only reason I will not be going back is because I am used to more authentic Mexican food that comes with way bigger portions for the same price & just as delicious! I also did not notice a lot of Vegetarian options on the menu, which can be a concern for some.
Angel for Prez! Best bartender ever!Great food, love the mahi tacos, the swordfish tacos and the brisket tacos...all incredible! One of our favorite Friday night spots. Sit at the bar and chit chat with bartenders. Great conversations as all around tequila!
This was the second time I’ve visited, and the food was as good as it was the first time…consistent; however, the tiled floor near the bar was very very dirty. Also, if I am going to drink a $7 canned beer, I pretty much should expect a glass. Twice I was given a can and I had to ask for a glass. What’s that about?
12/29/21 review -It’s tough to find a place that can put everything together and have great service! This place DID THAT! Food was excellent and their options for cocktails was elite. We enjoyed their atmosphere and their excellent service. If you are Gf, like my wife is, then you will be happy because they have lots of options and pay attention to your diet needs. If there is one thing I do wish, it would be a longer food menu. I love tacos and I love their sides, but I wish there were more yummy options.Pictured below is 4 tacos (beef, pork, fish, brisket), beer, and the atmosphere!
This is such a beautiful, ambient little restaurant. I've never ordered off of a boca or botana-style menu before and thought I would be paying quite a lot to try to get a full meal, but the delectable assortment of street tacos, sides, soups, desserts, and cocktails can handle that task. The atmosphere is as warm and inviting as the staff who served us caringly. I have vegan and vegetarian family members who were with me and they were patiently and thoughtfully accommodated as they chose their menu items. Truthfully, the rice, beans, and soup were my favorite portion - so unique from typical Mexican-American fare. It is a bit pricey but for the quality experience you get, money becomes the last thing on your mind.
Vibrant place with interesting and excellent taco choice and super tasty unique margaritasA bit noisy for conversation with a table of 6
Always outstanding! Great cocktails, food and even better staff. Downtown Glen Ellyn. A train ride away from the city.
