Still the best breakfast in the Fox Valley. Great food and fantastic service.
Everything a diner should be! We sat at the counter and the special for the day looked amazing, but I opted for ham, bacon, cheese and hash browns stuffed into a perfectly formed omlet that folded over the filling like a Food Network plated photo! The omlet was topped with cheese and CHILE! Really good slow cooked chili, I might add! I asked for a side of sour cream... Good pancakes, too. Beautiful mural artwork abound! See pics..It was a little "diner-ee" behind the counter .. not much space for things and stuff everywhere, but they cooked and served like a well oiled machine cranking out orders for eat in and to go!
Love this place! I recently decided that I am no longer going to eat at breakfast joints that don't have a diner counter (just because it's not a diner without one), and I'm really glad this place does, because their food is very good and very reasonably-priced.The staff is very friendly and always attentive. The place is small: you're going to hear conversations around as well as the hustle & bustle of the cooks and waitresses, because it's all one room, like a great diner should be.They usually have a breakfast special that's not only good but almost a steal. I haven't had lunch here yet but I'm willing to bet it's just as good as the breakfast. They serve pretty good coffee, and it's strong, not watered down like many breakfast joints in Chicagoland tend to do.And, it's located just west of all the great stuff in downtown Geneva, so take a stroll after breakfast and check out the gorgeous Main Street buildings and shops as well as those south of Main on 3rd Street.Don't skip it, folks. If you're not from the area, it's worth the drive to have brekkie here and then spend some cash in downtown Geneva. Makes for a nice weekend morning.Hope that helps!
Unbelievable quality and service made for a perfect visit this morning. The staff is superior quality only rivaled by the super fresh and perfectly prepared delicious dishes. To the whole staff, we’ll done! To the owners, you are so lucky in today’s service world, you have a great team! We will definitely be back.
Amazing atmosphere and great food. Waitress in pink was very nice and friend had the chorizo skillet. To die for.
This little diner serves big portions at reasonable prices. I especially liked the egg-and-chorizo skillet. The chorizo was mixed well with the hash-browned potatoes and cheese. I usually leave most of the potatoes I'm served, but in this case, they were too tempting for me to leave any on the plate. The coffee was good, and the pancakes were tasty and fluffy.Despite the small size of the diner, the owners took care to separate patrons and placed plexiglass partitions between booths.
Great food and service. Prices are fair. Always stop in for breakfast when in the area. A lot of family members that live near go often.
Great food, great service. High quality ingredients and well prepared. Ever so slightly more expensive than another diner down the street, but much better quality. Their Benedict egg dishes are highly recommended!
My husband and I ate here for the first time today and we both enjoyed the food. Their biscuits and gravy were delicious as was the florentine benedict. It was fresh and delicious but did not leave us feeling like we overdid it. I also loved the atmosphere - it gave me a small town feel. Friendly and kind staff, excellent service.
Strictly spontaneous breakfast at State Street Diner. Welcomed as soon as we entered the diner and opted to sit at the counter. Observed waitress (& owner perhaps?) having lots of friendly conversations with the diners, so that tells me they are "regulars" that she has gotten to know over time. Support staff working with her also very friendly and attentive with refreshment refills. Cook in the kitchen working hard and preparing wonderful smelling food. It warmed my heart to hear the woman/owner offer the Postal Carrier a warm "to go" drink on a cold day after she dropped off their mail. Classy gesture!!
