Our first time there. Steak skewers and Cuban were awesome - recommended by our waiter Anthony. Will definitely go back - friendly staff and great outside environment. Live music just topped it off.
REALLY don’t recommend this place. We went at 3:30pm on a Sunday. Many open tables but they said they were on a wait so we gave our name and sat at the bar for a drink. Two hours later all the tables are still open and they still won’t seat us. We ordered food at the bar, where the service was very slow. After we were done eating, still many open tables when we left. Staff couldn’t care less.
Great food, atmosphere, and wait staff. Have been here multiple times, and every time is an amazing experience all around.
The food was average. I got the steak skewers which had a nice flavor but too many tough parts that I had to spit out. The wine was good. Their heated outdoor patio was amazing! They had someone playing the guitar and singing Christmas carols out front, a few stands selling gifts in the alley, and someone selling to-go drinks. It felt like a Hallmark movie.
The Geneva Christmas Walk brings hordes of people, and long lines and waits at the restaurants along 3rd St. A sign on the front window of Preservation said "see host down the alley for seating". Amazingly,our foursome was seated immediately. Our server was genial, knowledgeable, and extremely competent. Cocktails arrived quickly. I chose a mezcal reposado, smooth and delicious. The apple cider sangria was a hit with my wife and daughter. We began with the Spanish olive mix, the European cheese plate, and the charcuterie. All three disappeared quickly, along with a second round of cocktails. All four of us chose "small plates", from a menu that was eclectic, and tempting. But our server knew her menu well, and was able to answer every question we put to her. And our choices definitely met our expectations. My spinach and crispy duck breast salad was unique, and very good. My wife raved about her lamb sliders on housemade focaccia rounds. She described them as "perfectly grilled" lamb medallions with pepper jam and feta cheese. Our daughter described her wild mushroom tart as "soooo good!" Her boyfriend rounded out our choices with "really delicious" baguette smoked Cubano - smoked pork loin, and smoked pork shoulder, with Swiss cheese and homemade pickles on crispy baguette bread. We topped off this truly satisfying meal with apple bread pudding. A different take on bread pudding that was French toast like, with delicious cinnamon apples, caramel sauce, crispy-crunchy roasted pecans, and bathed in a bourbon creme fraiche. Geneva is flush with good restaurants. We've been to a lot them. But there is no doubt we'll return to Preservation.
Very nice establishment. I really wasn’t too hungry so I ordered the Mac and Cheese. It was very good, rich, and filling. My girlfriend ordered the butterkase grilled cheese—she stated it was a tad bland and that a tomato slice would have made it much more flavorful.

Lovely, quality food, drinks, people, and service! So helpful, too!!! I had forgotten my wallet there after lunch, and then driven to Chicago to a show with friends. Horrified, I backtracked my steps, and we called Preservation. Thank heavens-they had found it, and even took the time to text a photo of my vaccination card to me so that I could get into a play downtown. I picked it up the next day. Can’t say that you would get your wallet back at all restaurants nowadays. Thank you, Preservation!!!
Always amazing food and service. I love the outdoor seating area in the winter. I’m cold, ALWAYS cold. And the heaters there keep you nice and toasty. And did I mention they give you blankets?!Also- you can bring over Atlas Chicken Shack too!
We always get a Cheese Platter and the Duck Salad. Both are so fresh and delicious. The service is welcoming and professional. We like many other items as well and have tried most. You cannot go wrong with any choice. The heated bar and outdoor patio are a huge plus...even when it's really cold out.
