Unfortunately, this place gets one star. We came in on Saturday afternoon to have some tacos. They brought appetizers and never came back. Finally she shows upAnd we ordered 3 steak tacos, simple as that. When tacos got to us about a half hour later they were cold. They took them back to heat them. Took another 15 min finally came back but the guy decided to take the rice i was eating. I'm Mexican and this is the the worst I've had. Service and food. Unfortunately she should've told us there was an up charge of $1.50 for green salsa. Needles to say last time we come here.
Definitely had to come back here. Great food great atmosphere and great customer service. Come on down.
We really wanted to like this place since we live down the street. We hoped that it got better since we tried it a year ago but this time we actually walked out without even being half way done with our meal.We got two steak burritos, one Mexican style and one regular. $17 each, for something that looked more like a quesadilla. It tasted more like eating a bean burrito, very little steak. Beans and rice are not included in this price either. We definitely will not be coming back.
I went with my wife and two daughters on a Friday night. The place was half full, but we still waited 5 minutes to be seated. No big deal. The service was very good, but the menu and pricing is what turned me off. There is nothing cheaper than $15 on the menu, and that is where the prices start. I had the chipotle shrimp tacos. There was a good amount of spice, but the flavor was lacking. My wife and daughters were not "wowed" by their food either. The worst part was the bill. Guacamole appetizer, four dinners, one beer and 3 soft drinks. Left with a $110 bill. With prices like that for Mexican food, I expect it to be the best Mexican food around. This was not even close. Go to Jalapeno Grill in St. Charles for the best around (see my previous review). This place clearly is banking on the kitsch and charm of the 3rd Street Geneva crowd where price is no consideration.
The main courses were very tasty. The atmosphere and drinks were terrific. The staff was speedy and very nice. However, the portions were on the smaller side, especially for the price. The regular salsa that came with the chips tasted like watery ketchup. The specialty guacamoles were very interesting and delicious, but once again, their original guacamole was rather bland.
Loved this place at the previous State Street location and still love them! Best guac and chips in the area, great staff. Enjoyed the outdoor seating and views too.
We've had consistently good experiences here and the food is good. The red mole dish is good and the chicken has never been overly dry which tends to be the case with other restaurants' mole. The options for the kid menu are generous and fairly priced. My kids are younger (4 and 2) and can usually share one kids meal and sample the rest of our plates. Great option for Mexican cuisine.
I ordered take out while stuck at the nearby hospital. When I went to pick the food up, I was immediately concerned there was only a single table seated on a Friday night.I brought the chicken burrito back to the hospital to eat it, and was repulsed. The food I received was a soggy burrito soaked in red sauce. The chicken was the consistency of shredded canned chicken, and there was beans on it. The tortilla was wet and drippy mush.I immediately threw the food in the trash, and starved for the rest of the night. It's almost as if I took 30 dollars, ripped it up, and threw it in the air. What a repulsive let down.
Good food and fast service. Nice rooftop patio too!
Food was not good. It tasted freezer burnt, our torta sandwich bread was stale. The waitress was very intense and cut off one of my table members halfway through a drink order to ask for ID. the drinks though were very good! I would recommend going if you only wanted drinks. We often times had to ask other staff to grab our waitress for us because she did not check in or ask if we wanted more drinks until she dropped off our bill. Our waitress was not attentive and not very nice either if I’m being completely honest. We originally ordered two appetizers and only got one and when she came back to confirm she acted like we had never asked for it. Honestly, Geneva is full of other AMAZING restaurants that serve better food and have more attentive staff.
