Amazing first time visiting Barrel + Rye! The food was extremely delicious. Poke Bowl was very fresh, sweet and tangy, and substituted the tuna for shrimp! Even more delicious! Will come again! Service was greatly presentable ❤️

Stopped here on a road trip to check out Geneva downtown and grab lunch. I sat down around 4pm so it wasn’t busy but filled up nicely by the time I finished. The burger was really good. Service was a little slow but I wasn’t in a rush so it didn’t bother me much.

Absolutely loved this place. The food and the Old Fashioneds were great. The only downside was the guy who leaned on the fire alarm pull station. Sounder strobes blasted us for 15 min.

Yum. Very much enjoyed. Cute space great food even better drinks. Will be back!

Third time here although first time since before COVID. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon after shopping nearby. At 4pm this place was hopping and somewhat noisy -- I think partially due to March Madness which all televisions (3 or 4 in the place) had it on. I was more in a mood to chill, and sat at the bar, so atmosphere-wise it's not what I was personally looking for that day, but still, this place is one very fine tavern.I chose two craft beer draughts (a porter and red ale) and a neat pour of Old Forester 1897). The selection of whiskeys has to be one of the most extensive in the suburbs. My drinks were excellent and took the edge off an otherwise busy day (perfect in the late afternoon). The staff were as friendly, professional and helpful as I remember. I never felt pressured, they want people to enjoy themselves and are eager to make recommendations. They were also a hustling crew. Nice work, all.I opted not to eat this day though I have before and the food was terrific. I was tempted though as the patron next to me ordered a Southern sandwich - looked like a burger with a fried egg and bacon...and smelled wonderful.Very much recommend this cut-above-the-rest taverns in the area. (Want to return perhaps on a more relaxed, quieter evening.)

My wife and I eat here at least once a week - usually multiple times. Definitely our favorite restaurant in the area. Literally every dish is solid. The swordfish is amazing - though I liked the dish even better when it was halibut. The chicken wings they have are consistently great (Korean BBQ and Bourbon Maple are my personal favorites.) The B+R salad is great (especially with steak). The Brie burger is worth cheating on any diet for and the Southern Sandwich is one of the best sandwiches anywhere. Pair all of this with a solid cocktail menu, excellent whiskey selection, amiable servers and amazing bartenders - what's not to love?

Cozy atmosphere, great service and many wonderful items on the menu. Loved my " Your turning Violet, Violet " cocktail, and if your a beer person, they have a lovely selection of micro brews from many different areas . Great all around experience, will go back again.

Nice ambiance, excellent bourbon based drinks. The Manhattan and Milk Shake Bourbon were good. "Seven degrees of Kevin Bacon" had way too much taste and smell of bacon which I didn't like.Good choices are adequate but not extensive. Price of the food dishes is more expensive than warranted for the location and style of restaurant

Stopped in here on a beautiful fall day strolling in Geneva. Rather than eating outside, we chose to eat inside in this quaint bar/restaurant. The inside was rustic industrial and had a cool vibe..The staff quickly sat us, and took an order for our drinks. They had a small selection of local brews and wine, which were satisfying. If it was later in the evening, they have a HUGE assortment of whiskey, ryes, bourbon that are sure to impress. The main reason I wanted to eat here was to try the Jambalaya with shrimp which arrived with geat presentation. My first bite left me unimpressed UNTIL the flavor kicked in. This was a dish that was made to order and the flavors needed time to absorb. I saved half the dish for later, and found it to be even better the next day.My only complaint would be with the lunch size portions at dinner pricing levels. I'd recommend this place for those that can afford a $75 lunch for 2 with one drink each.

This has become a staple place to take our family, especially dads! It’s really nice to have a meal with dad at the bar. Everyone always finds what they want, and the food is clean and delicious. Usually we do dinner. We did lunch for the first time this week, and it was great — friendly, efficient service as well as excellent food. It’s also relaxed without sacrificing quality. Go as you are and eat well!
