So good! We tried the Ten Don, Spicy Albacore Maki, Shrimp Stir Fry, and House Sake. I love Japanese food and this didn't disappoint one bit. The service was excellent and the price was beyond fit for the quality. The meals came with salad and miso soup which was a nice bonus.

Great Japanese restaurant to visit when you want to have some more authentic sushi (and I mean nigiri sushi, not rolls). Ordered the individual sushi pieces and all of them were satisfying to the last bite. I'd say this place provides the best sushi compared to other Japanese restaurants in Evanston. If you're not so keen on getting sushi, their dinner box option is also great, coming in a large portion.

Quality food, affordable menu pricing, and five star service. We will see you again soon! ?

Excellent food in this authentic Japanese restaurant. Highly recommended!

I love this place, the food is the best, I've never had a bad experience, an example of the kind of great service you receive during your dining experience, I had never eaten Uni, and asked my server for an order of Uni, she went to place my order but propply returned to inform me that the chef was sorry but that they only had East coast caught Uni no West coast product, Since I had never tried it, I said what the heck I'll take order. I thought it was delicious, the next visit the chef remembered me and while I was enjoying my miso soup the server appeared with an order Uni. I noticed the color was different brighter and had a sweetness unlike my previous visit and the flavor was full of ocean goodness. I ask was this West coast? it was indeed, I learned that most Uni served in the US are from Santa Barbara (California), Hokkaido (Japan), and Maine (East Coast) USA. 1,2,3 in the order listed. I love Uni.Special note to the reviewer Spicy, who complained about his visit to Kunis, seeing the chef cutting frozen Tuna, Dude get to know your food, if you want to get parasites' then by all means eat sushi fish that hasn't been frozen, if you still desire unfrozen raw fish, then you can devour certain varieties of Tuna and Salmon.Bon Appétit

Good but not great.I expected more for place that opened for over 30 years. I saw head chef cutting frozen tuna that used for nigiri. Most of sashimi I ordered was frozen. Cook food was good but so outdated for this day. Only I like is how bright inside and good services.

Service was good but the food was disappointing to say the least. Probably the most flavorless food I've ever eaten. We were really trying to find a good authentic Japanese restaurant and was excited to see all the good reviews. However, the food was definitely not great. The teriyaki chicken and beef tasted like they boiled the chicken and beef and thrown sauce on top. It was placed on top of a wet iceberg lettuce with a side of old boiled carrots. Gomae ai was just flavorless sesame paste on top. The side salad (mostly iceberg lettuce) was also drenched with water making the lackluster dressing even more bland. Sashimi was ok but definitely not the freshest fish. Overall, food was definitely below average and not worth the price. Gave it an extra star for service but would probably be closer new to one star if based on food alone.

oh my god! where to start! It was my first time and I had EXTRAORDINARY experience here! The uni is sooo fresh! I ordered hotate, unagi, tsubugai and tsubugai nigiri too and I loved them! Their tempura and zaru soba is great. One thing... just only one thing that I dont like at all is their salmon skin handroll. The salmon skin was not crunchy at all and have a weird smell. Nevertheless, that's not keeping me from giving them 5 stars anyways. Great service! Will be back!

TL | DR it's a descent Japanese cuisine restaurant, but I cannot recommend it for sushi or specifically Omakase. Disappointing meal.Big sign for entry here, easy to find street parking. Some Food and the service were great, but the prices were a bit steep for what it was. Decorations were strange (angry birds characters all hanging in clear partitions. The salmon was absolutely cooked perfectly, but the plate was a bit limited in their offering with the meal. Nice helping of rice, but only 2 broccolis and 2 carrots. That was disappointing.Upon feasting on the Omakase (Chef's choice) it became apparent that the meal was quite heavy in wasabi. I've had real fresh wasabi root and this was the green horseradish paste you get from a jewel osco sushi plate. Real wasabi is a bit sweet and much milder in taste and spice level. This was entirely overpowering and the sense of Umami was not there. I don't recommend getting Omakase.
