We love Hewn! Our favorite items to purchase are the challah, the monkey bread and the baguettes. Truth is, you can't go wrong with anything you purchase! For special orders, the dinner rolls are THE BEST!

Great bread, friendly staff, and do yourself a favor, eat the cinnamon brioche. As if a croissant and cinnamon roll made sweet love.

One of the doctors I work with brought these deliciousness to our job. I’m in love with your chocolate filled croissants. I have never had anything like it. I cannot take photos because I already ate mine.

There isn’t anything bad to be said about this place. If you love bread and awesome bakery pastries go here. If I could give it 10 stars I would. [email protected]&ing amazing.

Those of us who love Bread appreciate the quality of the breads that these talented bakers produce. There is a great selection of breads, as well as desserts and everything that is made here is of the finest ingredients. All of the flour is organic purchased from selected providers and ground to Hewn's own specifications. In my experience the great taste and overall goodness is unmatched.I am especially impressed by their Ciabatta. It's a very large loaf with a crunchy crust with terrific moist innards sporting plenty of holes. It's chewy, as you would expect from the high gluten content. Often it is still warm from the oven and keeps well for a couple of days without refrigeration, although freezing all that you cannot eat within a day is highly recommended. It's the best of it's type that I have ever eaten, resembling the best of the bread I have eaten in Eastern Europe. I recommend Hewn Bakery in Evanston without any reservations.

This place has thee Flour Power! The country bread is the best in the business. If I want to make a sandwich this is where I source my bread. GET the kouign amann (pronounced queen). The chocolate croissants could make a Frenchman cry with delight. The focaccia is crispy and well structured.*Just don't get the banh mi, it is entirely weird. The bread and toppings don't go.

At Hewn, you don’t ask for ‘the sourdough’ loaf. That’s not how it works. All bread loafs at Hewn are naturally fermented so they are ALL sourdough by default. The bread variety is extensive and change on a daily rotation by week. Every single loaf I have had of they many times I have visited has been excellent. Their pastries are limited in scope but also really good! (But you go there absolutely for the bread!)

Delightful and one of the best in the country to be sure!

Excellent bread and baked goods. Love their chocolate croissants.

One of the best bakeries you can find around the northshore. Bread and pastries are excellent. It's expensive, in fairness too much, but it certainly delivers a great quality.
