We were so excited to try the boba drinks and waffle that we drove quite a distance for the experience. The drinks were good but the cheese waffle was underwhelming and bland. However, the big problem and reason I’m leaving a 1 star review is because of the bad hygiene. As you walk into the place a trash can was filled to the brim and the opener that you step on was broken. The floors looked like they had not been swept or mopped for weeks, and the bathroom was very disgusting. Too bad at that point we had already placed our orders. The person taking the orders who had been sitting out with a friend in the customer area and also touching the counter, register etc. grabbed the inside of the cups to prep them. No had washing either. We felt like we were going to have food poisoning from this place. Five stars to the guy preparing the waffles though who was clearly working hard; one star for hygiene and the attitude of the lady preparing our drinks. She was very hurried and direct as she was clearly more interested in returning to socializing with her visiting friend. I know it’s incredibly hard to run a small business and there’s lots of challenges, but being hygienic in a food environment is a must regardless of any other issues. I hope they do better, but for now we won’t be returning.
I usually love their drinks. Their fruit teas and matcha drinks are the best in Evanston. However, I did find plastic film blended together with my drink today. Unfortunately I didn't find out until I left the store. I think something accidentally slipped inside while making the drink. They were very tiny white and blue pieces that looked like they were shredded. Not pleasant!
Their mango matcha is unbelievable good! highly recommend For my taste buds 0% sugar works the best.
One of the best Boba spots I've visited in the Chicagoland area. Boba are perfectly chewy and the cream cheese cap is delicious.
Just like Kung Fu Tea, Happy Lemon is a great drink stop! Their tea tasted great, and even 30% had enough sweetness to it. Definitely recommend stopping by for a drink!
Matcha Mango with boba is my favorite! Happy Lemon is hands down one of my top three fav boba places!
Lovely store. Got here because one of my friends recommended it. I got the boba milk tea w/ pudding and lychee jelly. Love the taste. You’ll prob want to get 30% sugar if you don’t want to drink syrup. One of us got the milk tea with salted cheese foam, which was pretty good as well. The Original bubble waffle was so crispy and soft at the same time, worth the time waiting for it.
Love this place even more now with online ordering system (link in Instagram bio). I moved further away so I can’t go as often as I like, but I my Happy Lemon fix every so often! I ordered my drinks online and when I got there, I skipped the line and picked up my order. The only downside is I have to make sure I get there on time so my waffle will be fresh & crispy! :) Here’s what we ordered:Our favorites-milk tea with salted cheese: signature drink & a must order at Happy Lemon. Skip the straw and drink at a 45 degree angle-milk tea with Oreo & puff cream Oreo: my personal favorite. I actually prefer mango Oreo but wasn’t available via online ordering-Freshly Squeezed Lemon Black Tea: a family member’s favorite—closest to Hong Kong Lemon Cha)matcha latte: always a classicNon-caffeinated (marked with green leaf on the menu)-strawberry shortcake: taste just like it sounds; a smoothie or strawberry and cake blended together-purple taro smoothie with boba: better than others-mango lemon slush: comes with lychee jelly. It’s very lemon flavored; expect sour!
I got the Purple Taro Milk Tea with Boba and it was delicious! They asked for sweetness level and I just said do the normal since it was my first time and whew it was sweet! I highly recommend doing 50 or 75% sweetness level unless you are craving sugar. The atmosphere in the store is a little lacking so I would take your tea to go.
Been here twice! It is best to go where there are few people.Tried the S-series (mango / blueberry) and was amazing, the cheese layer is addictive. The R-series was not so good (cheesecake) and too much ice. Overall, it would be better if they had SMALL sizes for cheaper. Because these are way too huge and pricey.
