The best Jamaican authentic dish in the city of Evanston..the jerk chicken, jerk steak and shrimp combo and those banana pudding desserts are the best... Amazing flavor, huge portion, reasonable price, compared to all the other Jamaican restaurants in the area . Da Jerk pit is number one....

The food was amazing and the customer service was beyond this world. Thank you so much!!we are happy customers :)

I just wanted to say coming from NYC I was highly skeptical of the food, reason why I’m saying this because 99% of the Jamaican Caribbean food in Chicago is not that well. But Da Jerk Pit is fire ? I walked in the smell of the food reminds me of the restaurants in Jamaicaa, you can smell the patties aka beef patties freshly baked. The restaurant is very clean they don't offer Dine in at the moment because of covid regulations. The wife and husband have a great chemistry and they greet you with a smile. Please make sure you wear a mask if you don't have one they will provide one for you free of cost.I order a large stew chicken with Mac and cheese on the side with a Mango pineapple ? ginger JuiceThe juice was freshly made and the food was to die for you hear me.You can Taste the Spices in the stew chicken packed with flavor the chicken was not dryed out at all which is a problem for many stew chicken but they nailed it because the chicken was packed with flavor.I must say the Mac and Cheese was everything perfect side dash.If you are in town or coming to visit Chicago please give them a visit or if you are local this is a hidden Gem.

my first time there the chicken was dry as hell macaroni tasted old and i spent like 60 bucks trying to try stuff

The spaghetti barely had sauce the greens on the menu was called turkey greens with no meat in itThe yams were very un seasoned I had to add my own brown suger the cake was very hard tasted like yesterday cake left out only thing was good was the jerk chickenPlease add more season to the foodAlso on the menu itSaid spaghetti was th beef meat lol it had no meat at all just sauce and strings

I’d give it 5 stars if the prices were more reasonable. You do get a HUGE sandwich for the money - they could cut the meat down by 1/3 and cut $2 off the price. But the BBQ is spot on! Probably some of the best brisket I’ve ever had!

Had the ox tail and jerk chicken. Both were delicious. Wanted to try their beef patties, but unfortunately they were sold out when we got there. Will definitely come back and try their beef patties.

It's okay. Tried their jerk chicken twice. First time was last year. I thought it was flavorful, but was heavy handed w/the sauce on the chicken and it was a bit pricey. It's Evanston so that's to be expected even when the food/service doesn't match. This year, sauce was on the side thank goodness because it was NOT good. Tasted like watered down jerk marinade in a jar. Chicken was majorly dried out. Had to eat with another jerk place sauce that I keep on reserve in my freezer.Clean establishment with pleasant employees.

I've only been here 2x and I love it! A lot of restaurants have jerk chicken that is dry. THEIR CHICKEN IS JUICY! The jerk sauce is good: spicy, but not bitter, which is important for me. Their mac and cheese is also pretty decent.Update 10 months later: Idk what happened but the Jerk chicken isn’t as good as it was before. It’s charred to the point of being stringy and dry. Also the last time I had some it was way too salty.
