I will start with the good part, that was our server Emma. She was great! The rest of our experience not so much. I called to make a reservation for the rooftop and was told we could be accommodated at 7:30. At 7:00 I received a text stating “your are expected at Comida in 30 minutes”. We arrived a few minutes early and was told I did not have a reservation. I was surprised because I had spoken with the hostess just a few hours before and was texted by the restaurant. We received numerous “I’m sorry”s and were told to wait at the bar. My 22 year old daughter did not bring a purse and therefore did not have her ID. She was not planning to order anything. When I began to ask the bartender for a margarita, before I could finish my sentence she told me we couldn’t sit at the bar. We were told numerous times that our table would be ready in a few minutes. As we waited and waited and waited, still more sorrys from the hostess. We were finally seated at 8:00, which if we were a walk in and were told it would be a 30 minute wait to sit on the rooftop we would have known that was the case. It took 30 more minutes to receive a our food. Should it really take that long to make a few tacos? Isn’t everything prepped in advance? The menu descriptions sounded delicious but the food itself was uninspiring, dry and lacked flavor. Actually it was pretty on par with Ten Mile House. This was our first and last time visiting Comida. What a disappointment!
A friend offered to order dinner for us as a gift.Things did not go well.1. Not all menu items are available for delivery services. Restaurant's answer: uh, we don't deliver, so we have no control.Ok, so I'll pick up.2. I picked up the food. As in the past, nobody was supervising the pick-up bench.3. As a surprise (to me) our friend had ordered Margueritas for us. Unfortunately, they were not in the bag, and there was no mention of them on the order ticket stapled to the bag. I did see 2 Margheritas further down the bench, but they did have a ticket identifying them as ours, so I left them.4. When I got home and my wife asked where the drinks were, I realized those might have been ours...mismarked? Somebody supervising the pickup bench, or the correct notation might have prevented this.5. I called and the fill-in hostess turned me over to the "manager." This person offered no apology nor explanation. When asked, she said she would issue a credit to our friend's card. When I asked why no apology, she apologized, then continued to be defensive.6. To cap it all off, they got the order wrong.Never again will we go there or order out. There are so many other superior Latin American choices nearby who care about getting it right; we will go elsewhere.
Service was a blend of really friendly and nice but also sub-par in the sense that the drinks that our party ordered were forgotten about and there were no silverware or napkins when our plates were served. The food itself was just okay. I got the byo bowl and I would have preferred a chipotle bowl same for my friend who ordered a boy bowl. The other people in our party ordered tacos and they said they were really good but that the tortillas were cold. Personally would not go again and would not recommend.
Like a fancy chipotle with drinks. The waitress staff took like 30 minutes to bring utensils. The waitress didn’t even know where the restaurant kept napkins. Also the staff were doing shots while our table was missing things. Food was cold, tortillas were cold, portions were small, food overpriced. Save yourself some money and go anywhere else.
As we expected the restaurant to be very busy on Mother's Day, we ordered dinner for pick up. Despite being told pickup time was in 30 minutes, my husband waited 45 minutes after arriving at pick-up time. Customer service should not be handled in this manner. While 15 minutes is understandable, 45 minutes is not.
The food was amazing!!!Lydia was increibleeee sweet and kind! All the team actually.Thank you guys for everything you do!!#Support local #centralst #evanstondowntonw
We don’t go out much, and lately we have gotten poor or just inattentive service at various restaurants, however our experience at Comida was hands down best service I’ve had in a while! Our server Lydia was super friendly, visited our table frequently, even though it was a busy Saturday. She also took the time to chat with our 2 year old. While a lot of places are struggling to staff properly during these times, I’m glad there are people like this that still exist and give excellent service. The whole staff here seemed very helpful and friendly. Food was great too.
Our appetizers - elote beignets and sweet potato latkes - were spectacular! Very creative takes on dishes from other cultures melded with Latin-American flavors and they were truly delicious. For entrees we had a BYO salad with vegan chorizo and the vegetarian enchiladas and they were also very good, especially the vegan chorizo. Dessert was also very tasty and creative - plantain empanadas. Our compliments to Arnold and everyone in the kitchen! If we knew how to nominate you for an award, we would do so.
We ordered the family meal of steak fajita for pickup last Friday early evening. (Serves 4: 1 entree and 2 sides.) Price was reasonable, so I was already pleased, but then I was blown away by how much food we received. We easily had enough tasty food for two full meals, and 1 or 2 solo lunches over the next couple days. The spicy margarita was also delicious. Will be ordering again soon! Thanks!
My friend and I walked in around 6:40 on a Friday evening to a very crowded and bustling restaurant. We did not have reservations and were offered a seat at the bar by the hostess when a server came up and said there was a 2-top available. We opted for the 2-top and waited only a couple minutes while they set the table for us. They did require masks to enter and proof of vaccination prior to being seated. Our server informed us of the nightly special which was chicken & cheese empanadas and also offered a prex fixe menu for Valentine's Day weekend. She also let us know that they were out of the Cuban sandwich and the caramelized baby carrots. My friend ordered the chicken & cheese empanadas to share which was served with a dipping sauce and spring mix. We were also served chips with 3 different salsas. The chips were hot, fresh, and crispy! For drinks, my friend opted for a strawberry daiquiri while I ordered a mango margarita - both of which were tasty and hit the spot after each of us having a very long week! For our main entrees, my friend ordered the chicken enchiladas topped with mole sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. It was a very generous portion so she had leftovers to take home. I ordered 3 tacos (pictured L to R): crispy shrimp, pineapple & anchiote braised pork shoulder, and short rib. I was only able to eat 2 tacos - the pork followed by the beef - with me bringing the shrimp taco home. Our entire meal was absolutely delicious! We would both highly recommend it and will be returning!
