I first got introduced to this place circa 1958-59! I doubt it is the same ownership but their hotdogs topped off with sliced tomatoes and celery salt brings back memories of my youth-long ago. I still go there every time I visit Chicago.
Should be shut down by the health department. Dirty crates sitting out, filthy floors, greasy windows. Hamburger patties, which should be kept frozen, sit in the refrigerator with the canned soda. The owner once tried to serve me a shake with cleaning fluid in it and when I asked for a refund, short changed me. The employee named Lydia is very rude and disrespectful. Also, too small and cramped to allow for social distancing.
Simple, delicious burger and great chocolate shake. The grilled onions make all the difference!
I read once along time ago this was Grant Achatz favorite restaurant. I can see why. Its tiny, fast and in its own way beautiful. Burger was great. I got the Tamale 15 years ago and still remember how good it was.
Great place with great prices. This little drive in is a hidden gem serving up amazing burgers. A no-frills place that will have you coming back again and again. Highly recommend for anyone in the area.
The best thin double cheeseburgers you can get in the area. I just wish they opened later than 5pm.
This place is not the same as we knew it to be coming up. Without going into details the burger was terrible, and we returned the shakes and got our money back because they tast like the milke used to orepthem with was spoiled. The burger would have been returned too, but it had been tossed in the trash, out of anger, prior to my decision to return the shakes. We're done now, and have decided to let the past be the past. Yuk!
to the good reviews here I LAUGH laugh at you all the workers here are extremely rude the parking lot is cramped the food is not good the burger was very dry fries were greasy like look I get it the nostalgia is the appeal here but the workers are rude and the food isn’t good not worth stopping to
No frills here- walk in and get that double or triple if your feeling really bold. Classic American burger cooked right in front of you with all the classic toppings to choose from. Must try !
