Great anniversary meal and cocktails. My husbandâs Manhattan was seriously the best Iâve ever tasted, and i loved my Empress and the Framboise. Corn soup, beef tenderloin, and quail were all excellent as was the creme brulee. Also loved the bread and butter but I think it should be brought as a matter of course and that you shouldnât have to ask for it, or ask for more.
My second time at this fascinating location. The wine list has been purged of many of the more expensive items since pre-Covid, but it was easy to find a wonderful bottle. Both the octopus & pear salad openers were well done. The king salmon special (baby vegs & lobster tortolini) was perfection, and goat cheesecake! The (incredibly young) staff was more than professional: expertly attentive. I will return.
Alcove was a perfect dinner for two experience - Excellent service and Delicious food and drinks!
The quality of the food and service at Alcove continues to be great. The quail, grilled octopus and tuna tartare appetizers received rave reviews from our group. My branzino entree was superb, with crispy skin and excellent flavor. And the grand marnier soufflé was to die for!
Fabulous food! The Fois Gras and quail appetizerâs were top notch compliments to the chef ð fun spot under the L definitely a favorite!
The food and drinks were very good. I would recommend it for a quiet dinner, not one where you're looking for liveliness or ambiance.

Alcove is our go to restaurant. Always a delight with wonderful food.
A great fine dining option right in the heart of Evanston in an unlikely location next to the Metra tracks. Great flavors with gourmet ingredients prepared without "new age gimmickry". Every course was excellent. We tried the grilled Spanish octopus, the duck, the pork chop, a salmon special, and the bread pudding and goat cheese cake desserts. All were delicious. We are definitely coming back soon. Also, some of the wines available by the glass are very good... don't see that often.
