So very good!! Were new to elgin. We recently moved from Aurora and we love Latin food As well as a great margarita.. If you love great Latin food and margaritas then you Will LOVE this place!
I used to love this place, but after my last visit a couple of weeks ago, I will not be back. This restaurant is crazy expensive and portions are smaller than they were before when prices were cheaper. Service is lacking. Had to go to the bar to reorder drinks and no soda refills were offered. Dip was served without chips, however when the check came, the extra charge for chips and salsa was not forgotten. Very disappointing!
Our party was accommodated well. Server was a little slow and did not come around enough to check if we needed anything like drink refills or extra napkins.Food is okay, serving portions are apt for the price, music is awesome!
Really good Mexican food! Very delicious. I like spicy food which they were able to give me some spicy salsa. Spice or mild they have it all.
This WAS my favorite Mexican restaurant. I raved about it and recommended this place to everyone! We just went there 2 weeks ago after not going for awhile and we will never be back! They removed several things from their menu and their prices went sky high! My favorite dish there, was the fajita burrito. They no longer have burritos AT ALL! How do they no longer offer a Mexican food staple??? They wouldn't even make one! I ordered the fajitas instead. SOOOO expensive for 3 pieces of steak and 3 pounds of peppers and onions! The fajitas were extremely greasy and tasteless.... My kids ordered taco kids meals. They get 1 taco, 1 tbsp of rice, and 1 tbsp of beans. FOR $8 each meal!!!!! I asked the waitress if she can substitute fries for the rice and beans (most places will) and she told me it would be $6 extra. That was a hard NO! My son ordered a chicken taco. It was so soggy and had a fishy taste to it so there went $8 down the drain. My daughter refused to eat hers as well. My husband didn't like his meal and agreed, we wont be back. The waitress was absent. I had to go to the bar to ask someone for refills and napkins. She never checked on us once and she didn't have other tables to wait on. The restaurant was practically empty. Our family is so disappointed! Taco Bell is better than this place. I guess the search is on to find a new Mexican Restaurant! So long Carmina's!
Wanted to like the place since it's near my house and others had rated it pretty highly, however, drinks were overly sweet and light on alcohol, food (enchilada dinner) was bland, service just average. Providing water for patrons you would think would be part of every table setup, but we had to ask for it and that took awhile to arrive. I don't usually send back a drink, but my paloma was just not drinkable. Additionally, I had to ask for the item to be removed from the bill. My buddy had a basic margarita and was less than impressed his drink and dinner as well. Maybe in some months I'll forget the experience and come back to check out the patio... Big maybe...
A Pleasant Dinner + Relaxed Dining Atmosphere. Great Menu Of Food Choices + Good Variety Offered. A Spacious + Roomy Restaurant. Will Come Back In Spring To Enjoy The Outdoor Dining.
We’ve been frequent visitors to Carminas for a few years now, never felt the need to leave a review except for tonight….The quality of food is the best we’ve found in the area, and the consistency is spot on for each visit. Tonight we were served by Jessica, prompt and engaged wait staff - food is always plentiful. Mix in great food and great service, you have one of the best Mexican spots around. The pico is to die for!!!!!!
Pleasant staff and good sized portions. The chips and salsa are good and the margaritas are fresh. Enchiladas were a bit bland but still good and priced fair.
Loud cussing swearing very loud Margaritas were terrible so sour .Went there for dinner left our drinks never ordered dinner very bad atmosphere will never go back and they charged me 20.00 for the drinks. DONT GO THERE.
