The pizza was okay. The salad was excellent. The dough in the center of the pizza was soggy, thin and the toppings fell off of it. A tad bit burned, but that’s sometimes the case with wood fired pizza. The pizza also had a layer of flour that was left on your mouth after you ate it. The staff was amazing, service was quick, I think we just ordered the wrong the pizza. The half southwest salad is something I’ll definitely go back for. I’m keeping my review at 4 stars, until I try the pizza again.. after I try it a second I will update with an extra star if the pizza is better.
My family stopped while traveling through the area and we were impressed with this location. The building is spacious and well laid out with comfortable seating. We had potato wedges as an app which were great especially with the dipping sauces. I had the daily special (hot honey pepperoni pizza) which was good, but the pizza crust was soggy in the middle. Also, with the pizza I had the house salad as a side which was huge and tasted great. If we are in the area again, we'll definitely stop.
Great vegan taco pizza and Mexican street corn. The new location is a huge improvement over their previously cramped quarters. Check it out!
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, but make sure to take a sweater because it's freezing cold inside. The prosciutto and vegan taco pizzas were good, but I'm not a fan of the crust (goes from soggy in the center to tough and burnt on the outside). Also, we did not receive a serving spatula for the pizza, which made it hard to grab slices without dropping toppings everywhere.
The cook on the Oven nailed it . The Formaggio with Pepperoni was cooked perfectly. The Inception Hazy IPA was top tier. The facility was clean as to be expected at Peel. All of the staff were nothing but friendly.Kaylyn was fantastic and attentitive to all of my needs and also very friendly, she made the experience perfect
Beautiful new space, our waiter was wonderful, but our meal was disappointing. The pizza crust was super thin and flimsy... undercooked. The jerk chicken pizza had great flavor, the cheese was fair and not worth $14! We had a side Caesar salad...too much on the fishy side for me. There should be a subtle anchovy taste, this one was a fail. For some reason the water tasted very chlorinated. We had been to the previous Edwardsville location awhile ago and loved it. Might give it another try at a different location to see if there is a difference.
Review Date: June 20th, 2014I find their pizza a-peel-ing.Let us take a step back in time to 2014… to a time when I had the worst food envy ever… to a time where I had the best pizza ever.On another visit to some friends in Edwardsville, one of them suggested we check out Peel Wood Fired Pizza for dinner. We hopped in the car and headed over there. Upon arriving and struggling to find a parking spot, we made our way to the front doors. That is when we knew why we struggled to find a parking spot. This place was packed. I don’t recall the wait time but we decided to stick around and see what the fuss was about. The hostess was nice enough to let us know we could grab beers from the bar as we waited; my friends did just that while the rest of us waited for the table. Finally, it came time to grab a seat. We were presented with unique menus and a smorgasbord to choose from. We all put our heads together and decided to divvy up pizzas based on groups, to make things easier. So, we placed an order for 3 pizzas and some sides. While we waited, we chatted and I took in the surroundings. This place was popular! Not only that, but it had an almost upscale feeling to it. The prices definitely reflected that upscale feel. After the usual amount of time one waits for their food, ours came out. Instantly, I had food envy of the other pizzas at the table. I believe my group ordered a pepperoni/sausage-style pizza while one of the other groups ordered a BBQ buffalo chicken pizza. I quickly offered to trade one of mine for one of theirs. They declined. I sulkily grabbed one of our slices and threw some crushed red pepper on it.One bite. One chomp. That is all I needed to know that while I had some major pizza envy, that didn’t detract from how amazing our pizza was. Bite after bite, I was in love. We also ordered some appetizers but I didn’t try them too much as I was saving my hunger for pizza. It was worth the wait. From struggling to find a parking spot to suffering from major food envy, this is a place I wish I could try again. Sadly, all my friends moved out of Edwardsville so I am not sure I will have the convenient chance to try them out again. Sigh. I am sorry taste buds.
We were recommended this by a friend. We ate at the newly relocated location, which felt very spacious, almost too much, but I still liked the atmosphere. It was very upscale and modern feeling. The appetizers (pretzel rolls and some sort of ham stuffed item) were incredibly good. The honey mustard dipping sauce is 5-Star worthy on its own. I had the Buffalo pizza, which was arguably the best pizza I’ve ever had. Ricotta and Bourbon pizzas were good too. Also, the alcoholic beverages and the cheesecake were great. Overall had an amazing experience, but due to the fact the other pizzas (non-Buffalo) were nothing to rave about and the open atmosphere, I’m just on the very verge of a 5-Star. Would recommend this place!!
Its popularity explains the new bigger location. The full salads are enormous in both size and taste. Wings are better than the places that highlight them. The potato wedge apps are a must if you are hungry, but the pizzas are perfect no matter what your taste buds are in the mood for. I can't tell you about the deserts because the apps and main course had me leaving with the next day's lunch.
Been a fan of Peel since they first opened in Edwardsville. Trying the new beer tonight, leaving soon to pick it up. Miss the Double Take Blonde and the Cream Ale. Bring them back, pppllleeeeaaasseeee. They were the BEST beer's EVER!!!!!
