Food was good but wrong. Didn’t have time to go back as we ordered at 9:45pm inside the restaurant. Ordered a double cheeseburger and once I got to my destination it was a single cheeseburger. I also dislike the fact that this restaurant is always dirty. Behind the counter food is always everywhere (on the floor, on the counter tops). This store is always a mess in the evening. To say that every Portillos you go to they are always busy because the food is great. I feel they should have 1 or 2 people only focused on cleaning.
Portillo is a chain hot dog/burger restaurant famous for its hot dog.The food and service are great.Too bad their plant base hot dog is out.Will try it out next time.
From the moment I walked through the door, I felt like this place was something different and the staff proved to me and more. EVERYONE was welcoming! The person taking my order was very patient while my girlfriend and I decided what we wanted. When we got our food, it looked delicious and tasted just as delicious. At one point, in my clumsiness, I knocked over my girlfriend's drink and someone was on the spot to clean the floor. From top to bottom, it seems like they have it figured out. I'd gladly come back to Portillo's for a hot dog, but I'd come back even faster for their chocolate cake!
Ordered an Italian Beef Sandwich with peppers and a side of fries for pickup ( on a Thursday afternoon at 4 pm) Special request was extra peppers, dipped, gravy on side & cut in half. Long story short, waited at pickup counter for 7 minutes before anyone even walked by and after the that another 2 minutes when the third employee finally said something. Got home, dry sandwich, not cut, two peppers the size of a pen cover, no gravy and the biggest French fry was about 1/2 inch long Not happy ?

Saturday night at 6pm with only 1 cashier in the store and a 30+ minute wait to put in our order. To Portillo's credit the staff and manager were working very quickly but as a result orders were messed up and multiple people had to go back to include ourselves to get it right. Really shouldn't have to take over a hour for fast food. To be balanced their food is really good and will be back.
This place has almost no vegetarian options. I know it’s a hot dog place HOWEVER there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan hot dog options these days.Worse: if you order a vegetarian dog, you get the bun, toppings, and no actual “dog.” I’ve called the store and talked with them about this and they claim it’s normal to do this.I would highly avoid this place and consider going to The Hot Dog Company in La Grange. The food tastes better and there’s a ton of options there. The staff is also amazing there.
6 p.m on Saturday with one order taker, line to the door, drive-in no better. Food is good but took forever. Serious degradation of service since it was sold and started trading publicly. It seems that they are unwilling to pay a competitive wage although they had plenty of Staff but no coordination and it seems that management just don't care.
Nice restaurant too busy and not enough help to take care of the customers they have. I went to get a Chocolate Cake and stand in the main line of ordering. Well you guess it right lucky day it was the wrong lane. I must go and order at the other end at pickup and delivery counter. When got there there was another lane. So it took me almost half an hour to just walk in and walk out with the cake which was just sitting in the shelf. I think they need better signs and some process to handle customers promptly. If they streamlined I could have been in and out in less than 5 minutes. My thought the rush may have been caused of not handling customers in an organized manner. I liked the cake but not going there soon for that. I can’t afford to spend 1/2 hour of my time in line to pick up a cake. Take a pass.
Super cool place!! The chocolate cake shake it as by far the greatest! Took me back to my childhood of mixing my cake and ice cream together. If you go you have to get a dog.
