Overpriced food, quality was not good at all. $20+ for a "lunch special" sandwich medium drink and garlic seasoned cheese fries. Sandwich was large but mostly bread and the taste was not good, fries were seasoned but not really garlicky, cheese sauce was mediocre at best. No dine- in available. I can't recommend this place. I won't be going back.
The subs are good, but the garlic fries are what makes this place and the RC Cola fountain pop! A southside staple.
I have been going to Mr. Submarine since the 80s, but moved out of the area. Then I discovered the Downers Grove location, and it was fantastic. And now my son is craving these awesome subs all the time. Incredibly fresh bread, generous portions. My son says this is now his favorite place.
I got a hot pastrami and Swiss and garlic fries and fried pickles. Sadly, just not as good as I thought it would be. What I ordered cost $26 and I gave the drive-thru guy 30 and said keep it. He was very appreciative. Also, store was not open, drive-thru only. I imagine that is because of labor shortage. Still would have liked to have gone in to the store.
Man whoever works tuesday nights needs a raise. everything came out fresh and hot and was delicious thank you for the great service .
This is the 2nd time I order the Buffalo chicken cheese fries from this location & i’m disappointed. It’s like $9 but they be stingy with the cheese, Joliet location does it better☹️
The bread was good but the service was trash wanted a meal the lady rushed me through the drive thru for some reason then messed my order up and give s me attitude unreal
This Mr. Submarine is really amazing! They have so huge selection of sandwiches and all of it is phenomenal. Their King Corn Beef and Pastrami are the best seller of their menu. All of their food are made to order and perfectly prepared. Their serving here is very creative, they also serve the orders in just right amount of time, and they made all of it by heart. All of the employees here are great, friendly, helpful, and decent. They are willing to help and guide the customers all the time. They are so accommodating and nice. They all know how to treat and serve their customers so well. Very personable staff. This Mr. Submarine is very accessible, you can easily visit their place, they are so near to other well-known places around, and also they are so popular. You can visit anytime you want and give their food a try. They have the best sandwiches I have ever had in this area. They are really much better than some of the more well-known food chains around. This place never disappoints and always ready to satisfy our cravings. Mr. Submarine is such a hidden gem in this area of Downers Grove. Thank you guys for giving us such an awesome experience and great service. Keep up the good work! Kudos!
This was my first and last time eating at this establishment (DOWNERS GROVE), I am highly disgusted with the food service that I received! I ate majority of a molded sandwich without even noticing until I was almost done eating the whole sandwich. I thought maybe it was a difference in location why the sandwich tasted a little different from Bellwoods location that I frequently Dine at. I have been sick to my stomach all night and the next day!
Quick and easy place to get subs without even having to leave the comfort of your car! Ordered the veggie sub, it was okay, bread was good, veggie were not proportionally cut, made it real weird to eat since I got like a 1/2 inch thick bell pepper slice on half the sandwich. The Mac and cheese bites were okay. The sauce options are limited, wish you had more to choose from, overall decent place.
