My husband and I have been here three times in past couple months and No issues at all, food has been Great!! We've been seated right away without long waits for our food or drinks =) Great to sit outside, we will definitely be back
Food was good but out of all the Mexican restaurants in our town this is the most expensive. I had a gold Margarita that was as much as my spouse's dinner. The food has definitely improved since they opened but I don't order as much because of the high prices. We saw a Marcelino our favorite server who helps out a couple of nights a week so that was fun! Would definitely go back to visit with Marcelino!
We have eaten lunch here twice and it was great both times. This time we ate out on the patio. What a quaint and comfortable spot to dine with your loved ones. The roof opens us when the weather permits. A lot of thought and detail have gone into this restaurant. Dog friendly for those who are friendly dogs.
We haven’t been at all impressed with any of the Mexican places in the Decatur area until now. Charro is by far the best we’ve had. It’s definitely the cleanest mex place in the area - I’d call it immaculate in comparison. The food was delicious and reminded us of some favorite places we had grown accustomed to from back home. The salsa is top notch and so was the service we received. We are looking forward to visiting again soon.
Mixed bag. Got seated fairly quick, but our party of 3 was at the table for a good while before someone brought salsa and chips to our table. Took another 15 minutes to get water. Proceeded to watch a party of 2 and a party of 8 get seated near us. 30 minutes had passed by the time someone took our order. The other two tables who sat after us received their food before we did. I asked to speak to a manager. That was another 15 minutes. He walked by us several times. Finally showed up with another person, not sure if she was a server, but he didn't speak to us. The person we spoke to didn't show genuine concern or offer anything in the way of a discount. Our meals were simple. She said sometimes tickets get lost, they were short staffed, it was Cinco de Mayo, etc. Regardless, it shouldn't take almost two hours to get three basic meals. The salsa was amazing. Might go back and give it another chance down the road, but this experience was horrible. Our server was friendly also.
First time at Charros , probably will not go back. Had several staff members walk past us before finally seating us at a table, the chips and drinks were quick, one wrong drink, the food was served fairly quickly. Food wasn’t that good, service was ok. As we we’re getting the kids ready to leave we noticed a roach on one of the coats. It’s a newly opened restaurant so if there are roaches there and right out in the crowd I’m afraid to think of what it looks like in the kitchen. Just a little heads up in case anyone is thinking about going out there.
Service was good, very friendly. Got fajitas and it came out cold. Meat didn’t have much flavor. Co worker food got enchiladas they came out dry and with little sauce. Only reason for the 3 stars is their chips and salsa was excellent.
Did a call in order to find out when I got there no one put my order in so had to reorder told 15 minutes waited over half hour. Food was cold food has not flavor and for the price I won't be back. Taco bell would have been better.
Posting for my hub, who is on a business trip. He is a frequent visitor to Decatur from our PA Dutch home, and noticed Charro had recently opened. He and a co-workerdecided to give it a try last night. I normally post reviews for places we visit, so I naturally searched online to check the place out. As soon as I read the reviews, I texted him to warn him of what had been shared, much of the reviews uncomplimentary. His almost immediate response, "Food and service were amazing!" He ordered a shredded beef chimichanga and enjoyed Dos Equis on tap! ...and cannot stop talking about the chimichanga! So much so that he returned today for a late lunch!!I am taking the time to post on his behalf, so that folks in Decatur know that there has also been a very positive experience. The restaurant industry is not an easy life, and I feel it's important-especially now-to give credit where it is due. Good luck Charro! I hope the opening kinks are worked out!
My husband and I decided to try this restaurant last night April 24th 2022. We stood and waited as the couple ahead of us got tired of waiting to be seated and left. Trust me when I say that should have been our clue to leave. We finally got seated after a 15 minute wait and it was because they were crowded. The people working acted like they didn't have a clue what they were doing and they didn't. So I ordered 2 hard shell shredded chicken taco's. I received 2 taco salads? I told them that wasn't what I ordered and finally got my 2 taco's. They had maybe a tablespoon of lettuce in them and maybe a tablespoon of chicken. While eating them I came across a label of some sort in my food? They didn't charge me for the tacos which was good because I wasn't going to pay for them anyway. In my opinion they weren't ready to open by no means. We won't be going back there to eat ever again.
