Tommy's makes food that tastes okay and is made fresh however for first timers who look at the high rating and don't deeply research prices, there can be significant sticker shock. The prices are not listed on the menu at the shop so it was quite a surprise when lunch for my family of 5 was over $60. At Culver's it would have been below $40. So if you want a fun dinerish dining experience, go here but be willing to overpay for the food. $15 for a 1/3 lbs hamburger meal seems over market.
The staff of three men were very polite and friendly. The hot dog buns were fresh and the food was delicious. Clean restaurant!!
Let's be honest. They're rude and the food is bad. Most of the employees here act unprofessional and aren't really respectful towards anyone. More often than not, the food is not well made.

The gyro portions are HUGE, and delicious.. I haven't gotten anything else there I can recommend, everything else is mediocre but the gyros are great.
Even though it's Tommy's #2 this is the original where The Special is special, two dogs, fries and drink and once ordered, you're as local as you can get to being from Crystal Lake. Sorry Chicago.
Food is usually great. Only critique is that you should verify the sandwiches are as ordered before leaving the store. One employee bold face lied to me just to get me through the door after handing me an incorrectly made order.
Quality of food used to be good but has gone downhill. Also buyer beware that their menu pricing online is way different then when you walk in to pay for your order!!! I won't eat here anymore!!
