It's ok. Their chicken shawarma tastes alright but the chicken is dry and not seasoned how shwarma typically is. Definitely not the spot for authenticity.
We used to be frequent customers because their food is good. We put up with the slow delivery times (consistently longer than what they would state in the Uber eats app). The nail in the coffin is they just jacked up their prices. $20 for a casual halal meal is the steepest I’ve ever seen, anywhere. Unfortunately I can’t justify spending that much money on dinner on a regular basis.
Maryam at front desk has excellent communication skills. She deals very nicely and says exact time for order pickup lastly, I would say each member of kitchen does their job honestly dedicated to their service.
I'm not really a foodie and I don't order out very often but Zam Zam is my favorite food place in Chicago. 10/10 for me.
We ordered food for 8 people. He said it would take 20 mins to in get it ready, but then he came 20 mins later and said he would need another 15, then another 15, then another 10. After a total of 1 hour we said we would leave and be back, but after we returned 15 mins later he said since we weren’t here when he finished it he gave the food away to a random person. Worst restaurant experience of my life as well as the worst customer service I have ever seen.
Gyro laffa (wrap) was suuper good and order was ready in like 10 minutes when I ordered online. It's pretty filling because it's basically a big meat burrito. Glad to have this friendly neighborhood middle eastern grill.
Food itself was pretty good, but I didn't receive the specified sauces I'd requested and Mediterranean food isn't as good without those condiments. I also wish the hummus came with pita bread?
I'm still shocked at how disastrous this service has been.Ordered a meal via UberEats. Zam Zam uses their own delivery driver. My partner was outside the home when the driver called and said he left it at the front porch, but we never saw him. We searched the 2 houses north, south, and across the street from us. Nothing. We had a slightly different number listed than our address, but it would have been delivered to the same front door. So, we called Zam Zam. "Rosie" said she could not "do anything about" it because the driver had "too much to do." We asked why he couldn't swing back around because we're still customers too (and by this time its getting late and waiting for another order by this or another place). She said: "Well next time, don't write the wrong address." We repeated that it wouldn't matter, and she said, "Well, I'm going to take you off the line so I can work with other people."My partner had to call back and request a refund. She refused to do it immediately -- said she might not get back to it till tomorrow. The restaurant still hasn't closed our order on UberEats, so we can't even resolve our refund through the app. (Can't even rate them yet). It's been over 15 minutes since we called and the restaurant still hasn't closed our order. We asked for her manager and refused to tell us that person's name or hand the phone over.It was incredible that we received no help and no apologies. We were instead blamed for the poor service. After being long-time Zam Zam customers, I think this soured us from ever ordering here again.[note: the owner responded below again blaming us for the wrong address. As I explained - the address we provided would have brought you to the same door. We were waiting at that door and the driver did not come. It was not a problem of the wrong address.]
We ordered through DoorDash. The food was amazing!! The chicken shawarma rice bowl was delicious!
Long wait, bad service, hectic atmosphere, radio static-y cut in and out, no bathroom. Ordered a kebab and received a wrap and they would not replace it. After all that food tasted mediocre at best
