Google said they were closed. But it was midday on a Summer Saturday afternoon and I had a hunch that they were open. So I went and sure enough they were open. It’s a small family-run operation. The customer service was friendly and warm. They won the molé festival contest so I went to check them out. Definitely worth it! Had an Al pastor/chorizo tamale with yellow/orange mole made with almonds. It was outstanding. Of course I originally wanted to try the red molé but they were all out. However I’m glad I tried something different. Great experience all around. Will definitely go back!
We were at the Tacos y Tamales fest in Pilsen yesterday evening and Yvolina’s Tamales were, by far, the best tamales - pretty impressive when you’re at a fest and I could only imagine how much better they are in her actual restaurant.The tamales are a generous size and not greasy - it’s a fantastic meal. I encourage you to either go to the fest (the line for the tamales are worth the wait) or simply go to the restaurant in Pilsen and order yourself the Mexican version of a Happy Meal.I’m telling you - and I’m a Gringa.
Best tamales I’ve had so far in the city. They’re more expensive, but they’re pretty huge. Mole is absolutely fantastic.
First time trying the tamales from here and they were delicious! Great portion, very moist, and lots of flavor. Can't wait to purchase again!

Their tamales are great... moist, large, and with creative fillings like quinoa and eggplant, which I never see other places. You definitely don't see this kind of variety for Oaxacan style tamales, that's for sure!They also sell mole by the jar. The prices are not modest but not expensive either, and I am sure their rent is hefty, so hey I understand. I love this place and wish people would show their show-stopper tamales more love!
Amazing vegetarian and vegan tamales and if they were so good, I bet the meat lovers are going to love the meat ones. Be prepared to have leftovers, those tamales are enormous.
The tamales - amazing!The mole - out of this world!The service - Angels with the patience of a thousand kindergarten teachers! The handle and care for ALL their customers, no matter their state or volume or lack of manners, is heroic. Give them all your money.
Yvolina + her tamales are EVERYTHING! I'm obsessed w the lentil & chili bean tamales (try it w the mole de nuez if available)! Don't forget to try the ceviche it's an absolute MUST!
Love the vegan Tamales and juice! I literally drive across the city from the North side to eat here! Amazing!
