Service, presentation, culinary creations from award winning Chef Beverly Kim and Team were exceptional. The 4 course dinner was really 10 courses and I did not leave hungry, the attic char was my favorite, kimchi ‘soup’ a surprise. I paired my own wines, the Neu Cellars Crispy red was quite interesting. In and outside dining options, bar area, accessible restrooms.
Love. We celebrated my brother's birthday here and the experience was fantastic! They serve a 4 course rotating menu and catered to food allergies (ahead of time) and had specific, printed menus for those individuals. The food was expertly cooked and the flavors and texture variation were on point. The wine pairing was also just right. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The only real miss for me was dessert (the meringue wasn't sweet enough to overcome the egg flavor), but this is really nit-picking away and didn't ultimately detract from the overall experience of dining here. Would definitely come back!
What a great restaurant! My great friend took me for my birthday and I had to wear my birthday hat my partner sent me. The food was amazing. I ate everything, diet be damned!!!The souffle was delicious. The in-between snacks were awesome! The main dishes blew me away! I need to go back!
Amazing. We loved everything about our night here. We did the full tasting menu with the wine pairing. It is a lot of food and alcohol for the price. Everything we ate was amazing and seasonal. Service and atmosphere were truly great. Will defiantly be back!
I’m honestly not even sure how to rate Wherewithall. We dined there and had a really fun meal. Every dish was fun and inventive, if not properly executed (the duck was flavorful, but overcooked to the point of being tough to cut with a knife). And we absolutely LOVED the extra dishes in between the main courses. Our main disappointment/confusion came with the bill. I was more than happy to add a gratuity to our dinner (Noosha and the other staff were great), but there was already a 20% automatic “Service Charge” added to our bill. Then there was a separate line item to add a tip. I have no idea whether the 20% service charge was going to the servers or the owner. For the tip line, was I supposed to add an ADDITIONAL 20% ($80+) for the service??? Honestly, it made me feel really awkward about the whole situation and I just wanted to leave. For as fun and delicious of a meal we had, I still have a bad taste in my mouth about that service charge.
The food at best is mediocre and service was TERRIBLE. Took over half hour between course. Then they had the audacity to charge a 20% automatic tip. And on a prefix menu with wine pairing that was $61.50 . They definitely did not deserve that. Will not return.
A beautiful evening by Top Chef alum, Michelin-starred chef, and James Beard Award winner Beverly Kim. Stellar credentials show on the plates, bite after bite. The chef nods to traditional French fine dining as she peppers the meal with off-menu offerings, littles bites that just left you wanting for more, then delivering a big punch for the main courses. The staff is attentive and lovely. The wine pairing is original and informative (did you know 27 bottles of Madeira were on the founding fathers' tab the night before they signed the Constitution?). Also, chef Kim is at the front of the equity fight for restaurant workers, and has launched the Abundance Setting, helping moms working in the culinary industry find childcare aside of 9-5 hours schedules, as well as providing with mentorship and meal relief. One more reason to patronize Wherewithall, as if the stellar food wasn't enough.
This restaurant has been on my list since before the pandemic. I was so excited to discover it had reopened... Rarely does an experience so long anticipated meet (and exceed) the hype.Food was so delicious! Despite it being a tasting menu, we didn't leave hungry. Cocktails were just as good as the food.Highly recommend!
Couldn’t be more impressed with the service, attention to detail, food and beverage pairings, and value. Outstanding. One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in Chicago in a few years.Fun details in decor, bathrooms, and serveware. Interesting wines with full detail about maker and grapes for the wine pairings. Really delicious 4 course meal was elevated with several surprise snacks that aren’t on the menu.
PROs: secluded enough to give you the feel of a city-center escape. Very nice interior lights. Friendly sevice. Anything that is served is surprising, intriguing. Yes, you eat enough. CONs: This sensational menu is definitely worth its fee, but I left disappointed for the wine-tasting cost (the double of one person's menu) - my bad, I didn't check it. CONCLUSIONS: An absolute gem for CHICAGO. Somthing many will talk about and remember.
