Love this place! Everything is super fresh and absolutely delicious! The staff is really nice and welcoming I will definitely be back!
Could not recommend this place enough- Halal dishes so I can actually have breakfast sandwiches without limitations here! Beautiful place that is my favorite in the world, feels right out of a fairytale and the coffee is amazing. As are the pastries-- the lemon tart is out of this world!
Was visiting Chicago this past weekend and was just out for a walk exploring the neighborhood. My partner and I decided we'd stop in the next coffee shop that we walked past, and Verzenay was it. Since the bakery case looked so good, I impulse bought a chocolate croissant, and holy moly, that was the best croissant I've ever had. The lamination was out of this world--so tender but crunchy at the same time. Def will be thinking about that croissant until my next visit to the Windy City.
I had the breakfast sandwich on brioche, with the chicken sausage. It was delightfully fresh with a lovely savoriness that was complimented with a nice herbal flavor. Wonderful sandwich, and should there have been some citrus on the side such as orange slices, it would've been a perfect meal for anytime. Either way, the food was splendid, the atmosphere was comfortable but intimate, and the staff were very friendly. I will most definitely be coming back!
Went for lunch. Got some sandwiches and croissants. Definitely try the croissants. Playful flavors and great texture/flakiness. don’t waste time/money on the sandwiches
What a great bakery! Their longtime Green City tent has nothing that isn't outstanding and the owners are super friendly. The cakes, croissants, quiche, scones, shortbread cookies are as good as any I have anywhere.
Cute bakery/coffee place. The blueberry muffin was delicious. Service was excellent.
Delicious food, great drinks, and very friendly staff. Highly recommend for both french cafe classics and creative new breakfast dishes!
Had the pecan croissant, the lemon tart, a couple of macarons, and an expresso. VERY good. But quite expensive as well
Verzenay is the best pastry shop in Chicago- it is also the best French pastry in Chicago. If this shop was in New York there would be a line around the block at all hours, but Chicagoans seem to be catching on.Arshiya Farheen has been producing the pastries for high tea at the Drake hotel for years behind the scenes, and this is her first retail operation. Every detail about her masterful delicacies is so obsessively organic that she found us as local, organic flower growers so she could decorate her sweets with vetted, local organic flowers.My whole family is obsessed with her coign-amann!Run, do not walk...
