Ordered the spicy garlic miso ramen. Really enjoyed the chashu pork and minced pork but thought the portion size was too small, and the soup wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. The food came out very fast but it wasn't hot. The service was very attentive.Went back and ordered the katsu kare. It was really good, and the serving size was huge! Would definitely be back again.

Great service and nice venue, but the two bowls of ramen (tonkatsu and spicy miso) are disappointing. I came here a few times years ago and had good impressions. But this time the broth is not as rich, the noodles too chewy and hard, and the rest of the ramen are merely okay: nothing stands out in particular. Overall it’s a letdown and I wonder if there’s a change in the cooking staff.

Umami caught the attention of a friend and myself while driving by. We stopped in for dinner and we’re not disappointed. There was a large menu with a wide variety of options. I got a noodle bowl and my friend got the sushi. The noodle bowl was great and the sushi was some of the best we had ever tasted. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt very cool. It was definitely memorable. There were many windows facing the streets to allow in the light from outside. It’s worth a stop by if you are looking for authentic Japanese food.

One of my favorite local places to go to. Excellent atmosphere and service with an amazing and fresh menu. Great place to pop in for a quick bite or have a night out with friends and family.

I keep coming back to this place because it's such a solid Japanese restaurant. Great quality sushi and great quality Noodles. Haven't tried their rice dish yet but I'm looking forward to coming back to try it. Their Udon and Ramen are great for a cold night. If you want to split the ramen bowl portion in half to consume some sushi as well, they'll do that for you in these neat little bowls. A great recommendation for anyone that wants to share bowl of ramen with a date while being able to try the other food on the menu!

They have a decent sushi menu with lots of Midwestern varieties for the less adventurous eaters. They also have ramen and other Japanese dishes if you are not a sushi fan as well as a drink menu. They do not take reservations, despite what their website says, so be prepared for a wait if you come at busy times. The restaurant is on the smaller side and there is no social distancing if that is something you are concerned about.

The sushi was great and very well presented. Everything was also fairly priced. Between four people, we spent under $150. They do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait during peak hours.

Ordered Spicy Garlic Ramen which was pretty good. Umai offers good service and presents a calm environment. Would try it again!

Fantastic place and really good food! Was there specifically for sushi but got to try japanese curry rice as well.Large selection of choices including appetizers, entrees and drinks.Quick service with friendly servers.Def def recommend! Our favorite sushi: umai crunch, chicago.

Always celebrate here. I spent so much more money in this restaurant because the food is way better than others. Ramens don’t taste good, but sushi, and all the appetizer and tempura are really going to satisfy your cravings. Services aren’t good here. Waiters and waitresses will clean your table as soon as you finish your food unless you spend more than 100 bucks.
