Order taking and serving the orders on a timely way could be made better. Out of a group 11, orders were placed together. But 2 orders was given very late!! After everyone else had finished.Busy place.Tasty food. Will come again.
A decent vegetarian breakfast place in Devon Street, Chicago. The service was good and the food was interesting. I felt like I missed the authentic taste but it was fine on the whole. Definitely worth giving it a shot. I'd give this a solid 3.5.
The food was stale. In menu you will find dinner speciality is “thali” but in real they make it in the morning and serve you at night. They told me first not to order thali but later they said that we will make fresh thali for you. Even when we complained about it, they accepted that the food is stale and still didn’t apologize or offer any refund.
Great place for South Indian food North Indian is okay. Loved the dosa and rasam. The samosa Chana was okay and presentation can improve a lot.
Service was good but the food was not that great. We went there for brunch and mostly ordered breakfast items. Some of them were not cooked well and some were just tasteless. We liked the cholleebhature though.
Visited last month and was overwhelmed by the hospitality and the food so thought I should put up a review. The food, the interiors, the staff, the music, everything feels authentic here.Although we were late for the Lunch but were still served humbly with the Lunch menu. Things we tried were Rava masala and Rava plain dosa along with a Thali. Both the dosas were crispy and delicious. Can’t say enough for the Thali as every single dish in it was top notch, never had so authentic indian flavors abroad. Also had Idly and Vada with sambar, which were simply authentic and exactly what I wanted.Keep it up Udupi crew! Will surly visit every time I am in Devon. Highly recommend place to visit with your Family or Friends if you happen to be in the neighborhood !
People be aware of charges on your bill for water bottles. Forgot to disclose the charge!!! No shame in even asking to remove it. No privacy they stare at you while you eat. Worst experience.
Second worst Indian restaurant I have been to that I can remember (and worse was a different one in suburbs which was expected in burbs)...but expected better quality in Devon. Guy rudely slapped down menus on table, forgot our drink, had to ask for more water and forgot that too, and was overall rude. The food had no flavor and bread (naan which they forgot too wasn’t cooked all the way and tasted unfresh). They were out of regular naan which was odd for an Indian restaurant as that’s a pretty basic too. We only went here because our preferred Indian restaurant was closed for President’s day. The price was very pricy for this type of place too. I was more than generous with the tip despite the terrible service and food. One other waiter guy had his mask down the whole time, and nobody checked our vaccine status despite the city requirement. The bathroom was very dirty and they were out of paper towels. I also didn’t like that rude guy went to sit us in the middle of restaurant near others despite there being plenty of space to space out near front, so we opted to sit near front away from others. So disappointed with this restaurant on so many levels. I’d frankly not even given this review if the food tasted good (as I could have overlooked the very bad service).
They have all you can eat dosa. Can improve on staff communication. Food quality was good.
Some delicious items, and some were just alright.Pongal was amazing, fresh, good consistency. Onion chili uttapam, was good but instead of chili they used jalapeno, disappointing. Mysore masala was ok, not that great. Sambar and coconut chutney were good but I missed having the tomato or ginger chutney to go with the dosas. Also got the Ras Malai, which was rubbery, so I'd avoid that.
