Love, love, love this place and Sushi Mike.We always get the Sushi Mike special where they choose for you and you just sit and relax. We are never disappointed!!! Every roll was incredible. If you order Sushi Mike special, expect to pay more than $100 for the dinner (depending on how many rolls you get) some of the rolls cost more than $25 but are DELICIOUS.This place is BYOB so don’t forget to bring a bottle of wine or whatever you want.
The sushi at Tanoshii was amazingly prepared and so delicious. We got the fish and chips as well as some omakase items. The fish and chips is an amazing deal and might have been the tastiest thing of the night. They never let my water glass be half empty and were very good at every point. BYOB but a corkage charge. They will give you a nice bucket of ice to keep it cold though!
Always enjoy the varieties presented here tremendously. Very unique with awesome presentations. I suggest bringing a bottle of white wine to enjoy, and a beer for Chef Sushi Mike!
The best sushi in Chicago, bring all my visitors here.
My overall grade for Tanoshii is: ATheir sushi is great - and of course to me is the most important aspect of this restaurant. We ordered omakasi for the table and were rewarded with a great night of great food. The only thing I wish would've been different besides having Sushi Mike actually be our chef was, they brought 2 rolls for the table which gave each person at least 2 or 3 pieces per roll. In our previous experiences, we much more enjoy 1 or 2 pieces per roll per person. This we find, lends the night to trying much more variety of food.Again - the food is amazing. Please remember, it's a BYOB restaurant. We brought sake and white wine to have with our meal. You won't be disappointed - great spot.
LOVED IT is an understatement. Without hyperbole, top 5 meal/experience of my life. Didn't order as much as asked chef Mike for Omakasee approach. The food flavor was 5 star, food presentation was 5 star and experience was whatever comes above 5 star. BYOB & Miller Lite for Chef
We waited an hour an 15 minutes for our appetizer - after complaining multiple times our food finally arrived. The sushi is so good it's worth it but don't go too hungry and pack your own supplies. It is BYOB - you may also want to bring extra water and napkins.
It took two hours for them to bring four maki rolls - it was a very hot day and they were slow to fill the water and they never cleaned the table
No frills sushi house. BYOB. Amazing sushi. Sit at the counter and hang out with Mike.
Sushi Mike always delivers. Wait staff was excellent as was the meal.
