HEALTH CODE VIOLATION: RATS FOUND.This place used to be good 8-9 years ago when I lived in Chicago (before it was zabiha). It has changed completely now. My sister and her friends went there yesterday and while video taping their dinner, a HUGE rat ran right by their feet!!! It scurried across the restaurant right by the staff. They’re college kids so felt bad saying something, but this is a health code violation and needs to be written up immediately. DISGUSTING.To top it all off, their credit/debit card machine didn’t even work so they told the patrons to go to a nearby 7 eleven to get cash. Are you kidding me??Note to management- you need to respond immediately and refund them for last night’s dinner.
I always get the musseman curry. So good. I also really love the condiments on the table that let you customize your dish.
I was glad to see that they were really busy on a Saturday night. Quite a bit of take out business there too. We really love this place, but this time the food was a little "off". Tom yum soup tasted great,, but was very oily. Pepper beef was almost sweet, and the veggies were overly cooked in my opinion. Pad Thai tasted great, but the presentation was not as remembered and looked like it was taken from a massive batch rather than individually cooked. Will go again, can't vote them off!
The food is great, the staff was awesome. The ambience can't complain, but the most buggy part about the place was they were trying to hurry us to get out, eat fast, pay the bill fast and go. The staff kept pondering around peeking and waiting for us to leave and no reason why even after there was barely any rush ...
This place is usually crowded on weekends but we did manage to get a table without a reservation. Service is fast and the food is decent. We ordered the Shu Mai dumplings, egg rolls, Thai veg curry and fried rice. The dumplings were really nice but the fried rice was ok. I wish it had more flavor. The Thai curry was decent too. The egg rolls had a thicker coating than most places Thai places. Usually they have a thin crunchy coating.
Used to be a family favorite whenever I was visiting Chicago. Great location and quick service. Always loved the condiment and seasoning selection at the table. Som Tom continues to be a high light with the crisp green papaya and crunchy peanuts with the right amount of spice. The massaman curry is seasoned well but a bit gloopy in texture. Portions are generous for the price.
Very quick service once you get a table. The food is served to share and it is very tasty. The place is not too big and does get busy so if possible make a reservation.
Just wanted to share our experience here. Food was tasty (although not as spicy as one might expect). The people in the restaurant were very friendly. The owner / head chef offered us a sampler of some chicken that was already prepared. It was delicious as well. And the portions were extremely generous. The bill was reasonable for Chicago dining. All in all we were very happy stopping here. I think you will be as well.
We were staying nearby and love Thai food and ordered take out. My wife ordered churchee salmon and loved it but she could not finish the large portion. We shared edamame and vegetable fried rice, again large portions, which were very good. I also ordered Tom Koa soup with chicken, which was very good, but very large and I could not finish it-it would satisfy two people. The staff was very friendly. I recommend this place but understand the meals are enough for two to share. We could not even save the leftovers for the next day as I usually do as we were visiting and staying at a hotel.
Exceptional food. Service was not great (he was very nice) they were extremely busy doing takeout. But the food more than made up for it. Servings are HUGE, so take that into account when ordering. Highly recommended.
