Here is a full review of my experience.Facility - was clean, and tidyStaff - was friendly, and helpfulFood - was horrible. I ordered braised cabbage, and cauliflower macaroni and cheese. The braised cabbage was not seasoned, and under cooked. The cauliflower over cooked, and it tasted like I was eating a big bowl of cheese. The so called macaroni was under-seasoned. I wasted $9. The serving size was very small. I had to throw away everything. I will not ever be eating at this restaurant again. Food order 7-2-2022.
Customer service was impeccable. They kept me up to date with wait times (I wasn’t waiting long) and were extremely friendly. Once I opened up my smothered pork chops and smelled the aroma, I put that phone on dnd because I already knew what time it was. I haven’t had kool-aid since I was a child but this was SO GOOD. Not too much sugar and very flavorful. Great peach cobbler and greens. The mashed potatoes did taste raw and was still chunky but that’s the only complaint I had. I will be coming back to Chicago just for this restaurant!
I don't know who is giving these reviews but this is by far the worst so called soul food I've ever had in my life. We ordered 7 different meals, different entrees and sides and EVERYTHING was awful. I ordered the honey garlic salmon dinner, the salmon was burnt to a crisp on the outside and dry, the Mac n cheese was bland and missing the cheese apparently, even the green beans/potatoes were bad and its close to impossible to mess those up. Nothing really had any flavor. We were in town visiting for a convention and this was the worst food experience but of course we were already back at the hotel when we realized it was so awful. $$$ down the drain, left starving, had to spend more on different food bc we couldn't eat this. Do not waste your money or time going here, not for "soul food".
They were very friendly, clean, fast. I enjoyed my dinner even had left overs for later. I ordered the grill turkey with greens corn bread and string beans with white potatoes. Why I am giving 4 stars the food was very good but the Sodium was a little bit too high next time I will ask for light on Sodium. That's it, please stop in you will really enjoy the hospitality as well as the food.
The food was good, I had all sides. The piece cornbread was average, tasted like jiffy, small for $2.00. The cabbage soup needed more seasoning, greens and dressing were good; I needed cranberry sauce which was not offered as a condiment. I would go back again for greens n dressing. Spent $40 for two people. Friend had fried catfish with two sides ( sweet potatoes and green beans n white potatoes). Sweet potatoes were good as well.
Good hot food in Austin. Black owned and friendly. Ordered the garlic burger(10/10) Catfish steaks(9/10), a side of greens which were amazing (20/10). So many soul food restaurants cut corners with greens but not them….these were REAL greens that were picked and slow cooked! None of that canned stuff.
I ordered from here through Uber eats Customer service was A1 they reached out to me because they was out of the oxtail soup I ordered I was a little irritated because I was really looking forward to trying so i removed it from my order 5 minutes later I get another call saying would you like the oxtail platter since we are out of the oxtail soup I really appreciate this establishment going above and beyond The food was so good I ordered the smother chicken with gravy and rice yams turkey dressing pinto beans cornbread and for dessert banana pudding and everything was good Until next time keep up the good work Shout out to the 2 ladies that assisted me
I have been coming to them since the first day i try their oxtail soup. Amazing food! Good Customer service and well clean. Not to mention their keto menu the food is Delicious?
Evelyn and crew are fantastic! We came in with a group and every single dish looked like something I wanted a bite of. My crispy catfish wrap was unreal. I'll definitely be back for more! YUM!
Evelyn (the owner) was incredibly accommodating to my large work group that came in for lunch. The food was to die for (highly recommend the fried pork chops smothered in gravy and onions, as well as the bbq meatloaf and cornbread). What I really appreciated about this restaurant was that half the menu is split with healthy food options that still taste amazing, and more traditional soul food. If you're ever in the area or want to get a taste of home delivered, hit up Splyt N Half. They won't disappoint!
