Always a great experience! Love the food and the cocktails: the fried chicken is to die for, the matzah ball soup is divine, and the atmosphere at the bar is always jovial.
The more I eat here, the more I realize it's one of my favorite restaurants! Fried chicken is good but the star of that dish is the biscuit. Holy cow, it's incredible. Brunch at restaurants usually suck but split rail is a huge exception. Latkes, matzo ball soup and bagels are all fantastic. Can't recommend this place enough
When a friend of mine recommended this restaurant to me the previous week, I was surprised to find out how good it was. And it is a particularly good recommendation because my girlfriend, whom I brought here for our third monthsary celebration, was completely taken with the place. After enjoying delicious cocktails, my love and I enjoyed Caesar salad, steak tips and fried chicken for the both of us. Their service was extremely friendly and helpful without being intrusive in any way. The food looked and sounded delicious on paper, but it tasted three to four times better in person. Their food is without a doubt one of the best, and I can't add anything else to what has already been said about it. Added to this are the stunningly beautiful and delectable desserts that were served to us. We had such a wonderful time here on our date that I will definitely recommend it to my friend as well.
Creative menu and delicious drinks
This place is an absolute treasure. The food is amazing, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is 100. But besides all of that, the way they uplift and support the community, treat their employees and customers, and give back during a time when restaurants are really struggling says so much. You're not just supporting an incredible restaurant, but one whose mission goes above the status quo. Plus, amazing cocktails and fried chicken. Do I need to say more?
This is the first review I've ever written for a place, as I was that moved by my experience here! The food and vibe were outstanding; chill but still upscale with exemplary service. I have celiac disease and their gluten-free options are safe and absolutely delicious. This would be my go-to regular spot if I lived in Chicago!
Came into the state for a good time and I found it here at Split-Rail! Picked up the Crab Gravy and thanks to Madalyn and Sous-chef Julia for enhancing our experience! I’m definitely coming back the next time here. It was wonderful to be apart of crowd.
Fantastic dining experience. Very queer friendly (female owned and operated), delicious small plates style, carefully crafted cocktails, unique beer and wine selection, super friendly staff, and a cozy non pretentious environment, also family friendly. Will definitely be back.
So good it’ll make you slap yo mama! Seriously though… best fried chicken I’ve had! The biscuits were unreal. Perfectly crispy and the maple butter had me drooling.The staff were terrific! 10/10 will be back!
Excellent food. Came for brunch and had an amazing eggs Benedict. Coffee was lovely. Staff was super attentive but not pushy at all. I love the environment and the bar is cozy for dining. The staff is great about checking vaccine cards and masks are required. They do add 20% to the bill to ensure staff are tipped appropriately- but feel free to add extra! It is a great place to dine in Chicago.
