Rude Rushed along with empty floor
Absolutely do not get The Poke Protein Bowl. The rice was so undercooked it was hard. The tuna was such poor quality and the pickled onion smelled so bad it was completely inedible. Iâve been sick for hours and I only ate a few bites.
Food was good, service though was friendly but very slow at a time when their were very few diners in the restaurant. Website toted that it had great riverside outdoor patio. There were only a handful of tables riverside and a large bar building sat between the rest of the outdoor tables and the river. Poor placement of the bar. Patio could be so much better. Small umbrellas provided very little shade. Patio area was very disappointing to not be able to use on a beautiful day.
I am a regular at South Branch - I recommend it to all of my friends and family. I took a friend here that was new to Chicago, and I was really upset by the turn out. We ordered the Korean BBQ bowl, and both came out cold. They had brought back new orders but forgot our sides. I had also ordered a to-go steak wrap and requested mashed potatoes, which they were out of. I then requested tots and when I received my to go order, they gave me fries instead. Our waitress was extremely nice, which made the experience much better. She stated that she wasn't sure what was going on in the kitchen and they were backed up, which nowadays, is understandable. I still will recommend South Branch to my friends, but wish my friend had a better first experience.
The noise at lunch made it difficult to hear my companion across the table from me.
Fantastic experience as always out on the patio
We ate outside in a wonderful area, with prompt service, nicely spaced tables (for health), good food and an overall excellent atmosphere.
We were visiting Chicago in business and found the restaurant in Google. Perfectly situated on the Chicago river, the restaurant has an elegant and contemporary decor. The absolute best Brussels Sprouts Iâve had anywhere. But my favorite was the Bacon Flight OMG AMAZING! Our server Nicholas was fun and charismatic. And the Flap Jack Old Fashioned garnished with Candied Bacon will have us coming back.
Everything is just perfect. The service was stellar, the food absolutely delicious and the ambience was perfect for a customer luncheon.
