My experience at sound bar was very average. As we approached the door the bouncer aggressively shouted “$30 cash for cover. If you don’t have cash, don’t even get in line”. With that initial encounter I was turned off to even enter the facility. I am aware that this is a cool spot in downtown Chicago so I was disappointed with my experience. I hope that other guest have a better experience than I did.

Be careful buying drinks here.Sound Bar charges "premium" for well drinks when they cash you out. They won't give you a receipt and charge way too much for what they are giving you. I never receive premium liquor but was charged for it 3 different times, and they wouldn't let me talk to anyone about it or ask about it. They don't give you anything to tip because they include it in your total.

Door staff is extremely unhelpful. No respect from any other people attending - constantly getting ran into and pushed around no matter where you’re standing. Sound from the two different floors heavily overlap and make it difficult to enjoy the floor you’re on. Water is crazy expensive, and weak drinks where you’re still paying $20+. Horrible overall vibe, will not be back.

Avoid this place at all costs. We were in the crowd for hours just dancing and enjoying ourselves, when three girls (who did not look 21 btw) shoved past us and spilled their drinks all over us. For some reason, they thought that was funny, and were pointing and laughing and mocking us. We didn’t wanna deal with them so we just kept trying to separate ourselves. They kept following us through the crowd and shoving into us while dancing. Eventually we told them to leave us alone and back tf up. They didn’t like that very much, so they started throwing drinks on us, getting physical, and then yelling saying we were assaulting them. Even the people around us were telling them to chill out, and random dudes were pushing them away. One girl just kept yelling how they knew the owners, and would have us kicked out. She said she was calling her dad and walked off. Sure enough, a few minutes later like 6 security guards came to kick us out. Despite us and everyone who witnessed it trying to tell them we were the ones being harassed, they didn’t care and basically threw us out. This was after spending $74 on four drinks. This place is a joke.

I would not recommend this bar to anyone. The strobes lights are so bright and bad that you can’t see. The water is over $7 to get a bottle. Drinks are like $15. They tried to get us to originally pay a $35 cover a PERSON to go in, they only went down to $20.

Let me just start by saying that people who work in the customer service industry should have at least some basic manners and common sense! My friends and I went there on Friday, April 22nd and were so disappointed by the way the door guy acted! There was a misunderstanding about one of the tickets( my friend arrived after us because she was working late). She was trying to explain to the door guy with the yellow hoodie the problem and even looked up her receipt to prove purchase of her ticket. He did not even give her a chance to explain: just pushed her aside(literally pushed her!) and told her to go back home if she did not have money! Mind you, she is asian, this is wrong on sooo many levels! We are definitely not going back there! Rude, disrespectful and discriminate against other races, nicely done Sound Bar!

Great music great atmosphere.

First horrible experience at Sound Bar in years. Been coming here over the last 10 years but haven’t in a while since the pandemic and won’t be again. The door staff was horrible straight up lied and was trying to take money from us because they made a mistake and let someone else use my friends rsvp/guest list spot without checking their id. Also when we told them we we’re only attending the downstairs event which was advertised on online as $10 they tried charging us $25 to get in (which is illegal) when another group of people they legit let in for $10 each right in front of us. Not worth wasting your here time here when there’s better options next this club and across the street

I really enjoyed this bar, was nevrous with some of the bad reviews. They did a light back down. Did let me in with tennis shoe. Enjoy the 2 level or different styles of music. The audio was great in the middle of the main floor, great bass, and if you stand near the back it's not as loud you can actually hear ppl. I would go back to the club to see another DJ

Pretty neat place. A lot of security outside on the sidewalk and they do check everything even a thorough bag check. Tickets check is inside right when you come in and the coat check is in the basement. There was no line coming in and a small line going out but it was moving fast. The ladies working there are very nice. There is some seating area in the hallway before getting to the main space. There are 2 bars in one of the spaces and a few VIP seating areas. Drinks are pretty pricey, 14 dollars for 2 water bottles so you can only imagine how much alcohol drinks are. That being said, drinks are good and strong. Another thing is that you could kinda sorta hear the music from the other area but it's not too noticable. The sound system is so freaking awesome though and their light game is on point. Super dope vibes! We had a great time!
