Simply Pasteur is authentic Vietnamese cuisine bundled with Vietnamese charm and service. I love coming here when Iâm in Chicago. The food is unbelievably delicious and if you enjoy martinis, you owe it to yourself to have a lychee martini, or two! Definitely one of my favorite places! They have a beautiful patio thatâs literally an oasis! Highly recommended!

Perhaps they were understaffed, but we waited over twenty minutes just to be asked for our drink order. Then the drinks took another twenty minutes to arrive. We ordered appetizers as soon as they did, which took fifteen minutes. So we got ready to immediately order entrees when they did. Thankfully the entrees took only 10-15 minutes to come out. The food was just âmehâ that night (usually itâs fantastic). The outdoor dining area is just lovely. But, seriously, to spend over an hour in total just waiting, not including the eating and drinking) WAITING⦠it was ridiculous
First of all. I not been to this restaurant in at least 10 yrs. Unfortunately it is not how I remembered. Highlight was the outdoor patio but after that nothing was great. Like most places in the city theyâre understaffed. It took them at least 15 minutes to come to even take our drink order and longer to take our food order which took over an hour to make. Food itself was just OK. It was a disappointment makes me sad.

The owner sat there on his phone, doing who knows what, while the 3 servers serviced 3 large groups and all the other tables. Drinks took over 30 minutes. I went to complain to the bartender, who was also overwhelmed - super nice & professional - and all he could do was apologize, again, while the owner didn't even blink an eye or look up from his phone or offer an apology. I felt really bad for the wait staff/servers.
Food was fresh and tasty but do be prepared to wait a little for your meal.
