Be prepared to spend $$$$ on an amazing tasting menu that transports you to Spain. It's a sea focused palate that doesn't disappoint. You may have to supplement. Technically there is no wine by the glass outside of the tasting menu pairing but they can offer anything that's opened. I loved the ambience and decor. Great service. Delicious food. It's definitely a place to take your boo if you want to splurge and impress.
Amazing experience. The food was delicious. It really felt like there was a lot of time and effort into providing the guest with the flavors of coastal Portugal/Spain while still being incredibly balanced. Well deserving of their 1 Michelin star. On top of the great food, the staff was extremely nice and personable and were more than happy to answer our questions as we went through the tasting. It felt very 1 on 1 as the chef was making most of our courses right in front of us. They even made us a list of all the other restaurants they would recommend in Chicago which is above and beyond expectations.
The atmosphere is cozy and lovely and the wines were fantastic. The food simply did not agree with my palate, or stomach, and the service was not Michelin star worthy.A friend and I live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to try Porto for a while. We went for the experience so when our server offered to create a menu to our tastes we were all in. We mentioned we wanted meat and veggies with some fish and named 4 menu items that sounded good. We got 2 of those dishes and 7 varying fish dishes which was about 5 too many. Many of the fish dishes left us concerned we’d get food poisoning and neither of us felt well for the next 24 hours. Our server never checked in to see if the menu was going the way we wanted; having done this at many other restaurants we put our faith in the process and were hopeful it would get better. It did not. The meal ended with an entire fish that we didn’t want or eat. We felt the server took advantage by bringing us $200 more in food than had we ordered the tasting menu. Shame on us for not speaking up sooner as we ultimately spent $650+ to go home and order pizza. I will not be back and have advised my friends of our experience. Truly one of the worst meals and dining experiences I have ever had.
Taste of food is 2 of 10 Too salty Too expensive Please do not go there ! Not a Michelin star place !
I've only been there once, but its already near the top of my list. It was our anniversary, they sat us in the back by the wood burning stove and took really good care of us, which included a custom tasting menu for our night. We are already planning to go again
Wow, what a great place, had such a good time. Went here with my supper club and enjoyed some great dishes. Primarily seafood, including a seaweed carbonara. Really unique dishes artfully done. Maggie our waitress was really good, explaining all the dishes presented. We had all the seasonal expressions dishes, my favorite was the turbot and oysters. We met the chef at the end of the meal, what a nice man and very passionate about his food. Also had cocktails at the bar with Manny, he was great too, shaking up some really unique cocktails. We had so much fun. Would definitely go back.
Great service and wait staff (except for one immoral item I’ll talk about later). Food was beautifully presented, however, the 10 course tasting menu left me and my wife laughing hysterically half-way through. No offense to the chef, but some of the items like the toast with sea urchin and the monkfish liver shooter made both of us want to throw up. Just tasted pretty bad. We both like seafood (granted were not super adventurous with seafood but we still try it) but some of the flavors here were extreme. We’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants all around Chicago and we left here thinking that it was a bit overpriced. The worst part is their processing fee. Do you really think people are going to carry around $600 in cash during a pandemic? I think that’s immoral. Charged us $55! If this was a charge that goes to the wait staff, that would be fine. But if this is just pure revenue to the owners, then that’s taking advantage of the patrons.
A Michelin Starred restaurant lived up to the title! We had an early Valentines day celebration here yesterday, and the Porto team didn't disappoint us. Each cuisine that we ordered was intriguingly delicious!!! KUDOS to the great Chef's, sweet and attentive Staff, and to the whole team that was just nice, well mannered, and happy people! We were seated at the Chef's table that gave us the view of all the actions on how they work together. We started it with the interesting fish oil shots complimentary from the restaurant. Devin, our host for the night was excitedly explained each menu to us.We started our orders with Uni-Toast, and Fire-Roasted Oysters! Delicious and Fresh! Our Favorites are the ff: Matrimonio de Anchoas (Anchovies), Diver Scallops, Grilled Ocropus, and Jamon desserts! We ended up ordering our 2nd plates of everything!! That's how good it was and SUPER FRESH! It's one of the Best Highest Quality Unique food that we've had. We will definitely come back!
Service & cuisine were exquisite.
2/11/22 update: Razor clams were sandy and not fresh. Jon Dory was good, but would have been nice to know that M.P. = $180 given it was server’s suggestion. Worst part was GF got sick later. A shame
