My wife and I recently ate our way through Chicago. The Pleasant House Pub was hands down the best restaurant we experienced. I had the Steak and Ale royal pie while my wife enjoyed the Kale and Mushroom royal pie. Both pies were topped with a scoop of mushroom and gravy. The pies were fragrant, savory and flavorful but simple. The prices were staggeringly reasonable which made for the best dollar for dollar meal I’ve had in ages. Don’t miss out - GO NOW to Pleasant House!!
Great food! Excellent, friendly service!Tried the Scotch Egg, Currywurst and Fish and Chips. All spectacular!
When we walked through the door and could hear a British accent coming from a customer in the corner, I knew I was in an authentic British pub. It was my Mothers Day outing with my son. The drinks were excellent. Our appetizer, the Deluxe Gravy Chips, was to die for. We had royal pies with perfectly flaky crusts and delicious fillings. Mine was the Mushroom & Kale and his was the Chicken Balti. We both loved our selections! I would go back and bring others along!
Great pub atmosphere. Very attentive staff. And delicious food! Can't wait to go back.
Unique pub food of a high quality. Priced fairly. Excellent but limited beer selection. Hipsters and well educated abound. Think of something smart to say if you're hanging at the bar.
I only had their pies to go before. It was our first time dining in today. The pies were great and the atmosphere is nice. The server and service was great. I completely forgot to crown our pies and he was nice enough to take it back and to crown them after it was already brought out. I can't wait to go back again when I'm visiting Chicago again
My favorite pies in Chicago ?? we got takeout and two frozen pies for a different day. They are so delicious, must get frozen every time if you're not close to go there.
Such a cute spot and the food was magnificent (and very filling). Got a table immediately for noon on a Sunday. Plenty of options for my vegetarian friend and the pies were great. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside will surprise you.
Amazing food and friendly service. If you’re in a small group, they won’t split your bill FYI. Highly recommend their pies and espresso martini.
From a Brit, pie and chips were excellent.A little high in price for what is a basic dish back home. - $7 for a half pint of cider is very steep. Also that was not ( I suspect ) HP Sauce in the pot and the British flags on the Christmas tree are the wrong way round on the poles.I say this with absolute light heart because nothing will compare to a classic British pub and with great staff - still worth the visit and so must recommend.
