The restaurant is located close to the Chinatown Cermak station off the Red line, and even on a wet, rainy day, it was decently crowded with lunch patrons. We were seated quickly and given menu sheets to mark with choices. However, we had to enlist help with the dishes as it was not clear from the name and pictures of what's in each dish. In order to select an item, you have to write in the number of dishes you need. After a lot of help and asking for details, we ended up over ordering items. The egg custard pie was soft, flaky, and yummy. The shrimp and corn dumplings are good, as is the rest of the dumplings we ordered. The chicken congee looked delicious and soothing. Our friends enjoyed it. The shrimp rolls are good, as is the vegetable rolls. Most of the items are fried and oily. On the other hand, the steamed stuff is excellent to counter the oiliness. The bau with orange paste, the sesame buns with red paste were nice. The mango jelly was okay, and I didn't taste much of mango in there. Since we over ordered, it turned out a bit expensive. As we were a party of 7, a 20% gratuity was automatically included and noted. Overall, it is a good place to eat good quality Chinese and other East Asian delights.
We went on Friday at 10:00. The food overall was good for the price, but there was no cart service. The taro dumplings were not as fluffy as I expected, and I was told by someone later on that their food is not made scratch in the restaurant, but brought in frozen.
As usual, food here is still as good. The place has been here forever and that should tell you something. The staff is doing their best that you will come to appreciate that even though there is language barrier. Recommended if you want some dim sum
Food was amazing and came out pretty fast. Some things to know:- Their hours look continuous on Google, but they actually close between 3-5 for their staff to rest and eat. We got there at 2:30 not realizing but didn't have any problems eating.- Park across the street (under the train station) and ask for parking validation. It should be $2 for 3 hours- The price for dim sum wasn't listed on their menu. We had medium-xl dishes between $5.75 and $6.55 and ordered 5 dishes for two people.- Tea is $2 a person
This experience wasn't great. The food flavor profiles were awesome! Service was hot garbage. But they sat both of us at the front with no regard to treating us like actual dine in customers and to forever to get our food to us. We asked several times about a few missing items only for them to keep telling us that it was "on the way" only for a Manger to come and ask if we were ready for the bill an hour later. So we could then watch him go punch in the 3 missing items into the system and then never apologize for this. I've had a lot of dim sum. I've had a lot of bad service. But this was a joke. They gave me the check and asked me to pay before giving us those last 3 dishes that came out 30min after the rest of the food and 20 min after the check.
This is our favorite place to go for dim-sum! The Chive patties and taro egg rolls are my favorites! The inside of the building is beautiful and very relaxing to sit and enjoy!
Phenomenal Chinese cuisine with a tailored family style approach. Remarkable dishes we had last night include mapo tofu (surprisingly good w julienned mushrooms in bean curd), braised pork belly with mustard greens, pepper fried squid and humonguous potstickers full of flavor. Strongly recommended.
Depending on when you go oh, there may be a bit of a wait. But you quickly understand why there's a massive lazy Susan on the table. This place does not mess around with the quality or quantity. It's also an excellent option for The Adventurous taste bud. Whether a vegetarian or an omnivore, there's something for everyone. Service what is first-rate, rivaled by the quality of the food. Bring your appetite and cultural appreciation. And enjoy.
Words cannot express my disappointment and anger. The food was exceedingly expensive and not authentic at all. The male host was also very rude and literally demanded us to give him more tip. Unacceptable behavior! I’m giving two stars because of the sweet o’ ladies that brought us our foods.
Really enjoyed dim sum here. It has all the standard selections you would expect and everything was delicious. Service was super prompt and they never let your tea pot go lower than halfway. Recommend going here early when they open to avoid crowds.
