Food was super good! Definitely try the Korean pancake (scallion was the kind we got and loved) as well as the dumplings to start. The fried rice is was amazing too!Cool atmosphere and nice service. Will definitely be back.

Everything was flavorful and had great texture. I had one of the best tasting broccoli I've ever had here (I generally don't enjoy eating broccoli)! The kimchi pancake was crispy and yummy. One downside is that the BBQ aspect was average and overpriced. Other than that, Perilla is a decent restaurant!

My second visit since 3 years ago. The food is good and staff are friendly and attentive. The raw BBQ is served in small portion, and all banchan (small side dishes), rice and lettuce need to be ordered, unlike other Korean BBQ places. I would say the wine pour is quite small, too and not served in a stem glass. Plus there's a dining time limit even though there were still empty tables. Even though the food and service are of good quality, it is quite pricey ($411 for 3) and I'm not sure it's worth it.

Top notch Korean food. Even for the American flare, there is a fine balance between the two (depending on sides and style of eating of course). Hospitality was great. Don’t sleep on the kimchi soup. All meats was freaky fresh. I will be back.

Had the kalbi, wagyu fried rice, Korean fried chicken, chicken/veggie dumplings, and the chicken roast. The chicken roast was a new item, and was very tasty . The wagyu fried rice had little tiny pieces of wagyu in it, so It was kind of hard to tell there was any in it. The Korean Fried chicken was perfect and very tasty. We had some soju and a few non-alcoholic drinks. No complaints.Ambiance is very cozy and intimate at the same time.I would come back for dinner .

It was the best restaurant among the restaurants where I had visited for 5 days in Chicago including all Asian and American restaurants when it comes to the foods, service and ambiance. It's beyond ordinary Korean restaurants in US.With the photos, it looks like common Korean bbq but the quality and taste are different.Yes, their meat might be more expensive than other Korean bbq but I like to have good quality meats with more price rather than low quality with low price.Every bite of short rib was tender and delicious, Pork belly was really good too.My 5 years old son who usually doesn't like to beef and pork kept putting beef and pork into his mouth which was amazing! All the side dish and spicy soft tofu soup were also very nice and delicious. We quickly finished first bowl of Tofu soup and ordered second because my son wanted more!He barely ate his meals for last 5 days.So it was so grateful! Moreover, their service was good too.The host show the brightest smile I ever seen from restaurant host. Super welcome and friendly. All of the employees seemed to know what they are supposed to do.It was very quiet and smooth. No rush but they kept coming and checked what we needed for.I really enjoyed my dinner at the restaurant and want to come back when I visit Chicago again

We had a great experience at Perilla. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, and the atmosphere was soothing. The food was tasty, and the drinks were somehow even better. I definitely recommend checking out Perilla.

Some photos of the Korean food for restaurant week 2022. On top of the amazing food, the service from the waiters was professional and they took time to explain the menu and each course.

Not enough good things to say about this restaurant. Food is amazing: great flavor profiles and options. The staff was absolutely amazing. They were ALL so welcoming. Minji served us and made the experience even better than it already was. She was patient with our questions since we had not been to Korean BBQ; she had great recommendations, and was a great server. Our glasses were never full, our bellies were surely full. We will be back, we will recommend. Best restaurant week experience so far!

Had great experience in Perilla with my husband. We tried two Chicago restaurant week menus and it turned out to be a good choice for first time dinner so you can try out different varieties in a single meal. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was even better. We will definitely go back in the future to try out their regular menu items.
