Solid spot with lots of great options - restaurant week menu was really well done
The boba crepe cake was frozen ??Wagyu maki was average, but the fried gyoza was also frozen ?? Udon was good but that cake was really disappointing for what appears to be a higher end restaurant. I know 100% it was frozen because a shop i know uses the exact same crepe cakes and pulls them right out of the freezer. I could literally taste the defrost. I’m positive that the boba in the ube ice cream was crystal boba not tapioca ?This place isn’t worth what it charges…
Nice interior, casual food. The sushi is excellent, but the appetisers are a bit dry.
If you’ve never tried wagyu beef from Niu Sushi, you have missed out on a River North gem! This is with extra flavor added. Yum!
The food was really good, service was great. My server was patient with me, considering I've never had sushi. We didn't have a reservation, but our wait was on 15mins. I'll definitely come back the next time I visit Chicago.
The first time was a great experience for the both of us! Everything was amazing from the appetizers, main dishes, the drinks and even the lemonade! Service was great! His name was Lou and I give him two thumbs up for his accommodations! Try the Spicy Cowboy!
Ramen was good, plus it was spicy not the fake spicy, but the good nose dripping kind. The Sake was sweet and paired will with the kimiki Ramen I had. 10/10 love best Ramen I had since New York Ichiran.
Service: Menu is straightforward and easy to order from. Waiter was very Attentive and helpful in making accommodations to our halal dietFood: Ordered : Lotus Bowl, 2 Sushi Rolls, and Two ramen bowls. Our total was around $96, it is a bit pricy coming from Michigan for me but it’s in Chicago downtown so I get it. I also got a green tea ice cream-don’t recommend it unless you like the rusty feeling of green tea.Highlight for me: The restaurants vibe and Ramen. My two favourite things is the actual seating at the restaurant because it felt like a really upscale but chill at the same time. The ramen was also delicious and definitely felt like I was eating bougie ramen. It is great for cold days with the soup basses that it comes in.
Our waiter Kong was so attentive and very helpful with choices from the menu since this was our first time eating at this restaurant. The sushi was amazing! We had the Crab Wontons, Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen, the Lobster fried rice, Rock N Roll, Spice Girl, and the Spicy Cowboy rolls. The atmosphere, staff, and food will definitely have us coming back when we are in town!
Second time at Niu Lounge and I am impressed! Centrally located in River north it’s a great place to come for dinner and movie with the AMC right next door. The food is great — I enjoyed two sushi rolls with a noodle dish that was unlike anything I’ve had before. Packed with so much flavor and perfect combination of savory/sweet. We sat at the bar and was serviced by Michael who gave great recommendations that added to our experience. Great food, good drinks, and great customer service. The restaurant is consistently busy so make a reservation if you can and if you are trying to social distance here you won’t be able to.
