WOW I was so sad reading some of the one star reviews, this place is great! I lived in Chengdu, Sichuan China for three months and have been looking for a place that was similar to the chuan chuan I ate there, and let me tell you, this is it! This is just like the food I would eat there. For people who are confused what to do - it is essentially hot pot on sticks. You purchase the broth and other things like drinks, rice, etc via QR code. Then , you pick out items on plates or sticks from the fridge. Each stick equates to a cost as do the plates. So, at the end they will add up the cost of the sticks/plates/etc plus the broth/beverages etc to get your total cost. Sometimes there might be multiple sticks on one item because it is a more expensive item (i.e. beef costs more than broccoli so it might be 2 sticks while broccoli is just one). Finally, you make your own sauce bowl to dip the food in when it’s done cooking. I am SO glad I found this place and finally could have some chuan chuan in the US. It is a great way to be able to try lots of items in your hot pot without having to buy a huge volume of food. Traditional Sichuan food is very spicy so take the spice levels seriously! I ordered the house spicy broth but got rice and soy milk to help me ease the spice. You can also get half and half spicy / not if you aren’t sure if you can handle the heat. Overall I highly recommend this place!!!
Date Night with couples from the Black Love and Marriage Group and our 1st Hot Pot Experience. It was fun and the food was delicious especially the fried ramen.*Open Table and Yelp are not connected with this restaurant so we really didn't have reservations.
The food was really good, service was fast and friendly. Outside of my server missing a couple of drinks and charging himself a $19 tip, I am pleased. If you all go, please make sure that YOU change the tip. My server was moving to fast and didn't allow me to change the tip when I signed because he took the tablet away too fast. Nowhere does it say an automatic 18% gratuity is added on it's website, so watch out
It was okay, but they need to a better job at explaining what you have to do if it's your first time there. The food was good and the broth was good too. They also have to a better job explaining the prices on the food.
Hotpot broth is good, not too salty, we got half spicy and half non spicy. Some meats ran out but still plenty to choose from. Wish they had fish fillet and more kinds of ingredients. Veggies were good. Meat was extremely tender. Since they charge you by the skewer, it’s more cost effective for me as a small eater. However, if I’m super hungry or eating with a group, I would probably go for an All You Can Eat Happy hotpot.Service is subpar- we had to wait 20 minutes to get a table on a Sunday at 10 pm even though there were tables that opened up but it took them a long time to clear it… It took forever to receive our hotpot broth and we weren’t given water or serving spoon until we asked for them. We also ordered a beer through the app and since they ran out, it was automatically removed from our order but nobody informed us of this. Wish the sauce station looked more orderly, half the snacks were not filled.Would not recommend the smoked plum juice, tasted like liquid BBQ sauce. But for $4.5 a pitcher, it’s not a terrible loss.Overall, I’d come back again - it might not be my first choice for hotpot but the vibe is fun and it’s open super late which is convenient.
Medium spicy soup is spicy. You will really feel it's burn in the middle of the night. I recommend mild spicy because this way you can enjoy the flavors.I usually take home the leftover soups. I see a lot of people wasting the their leftovers. Just ask for containers. They give them to you. Put the soup in the containers, get some noodles and rice to go and enjoy it the next day with whatever meat you want to put in it.
This place is a wonderful new hot pot place which charges by the skewer. Each skewer is priced at $0.39 Which may look deceptively cheap but it definitely adds up at the end. I also don't think charging 39 cents per skewer whether it be or whether it be meat or chicken or vegetables is or vegetables is fair. But this is definitely a new experience for me. I mainly came to this place because the usual hot pot place little sheep was overcrowded again and this is a close 2nd to the spicy soup base that you're used to having at hot pot places. We decided to stick with the usual sliced meats as well as sides of seafood that we usually dip in a hot pot and I think if you'd just stick to those it would still be a very good hot pot experience. Your sauce bar is excellent lots of variety there.
The place setting was cool, but the food, i do not recommend. The meat/fish on the skewers were not very flavorful. The home cooked noodles were not the best. Also the servers were not direct on how things had worked. We had gotten the wrong soup/broth as well. Honest opinion here??
Relaxed atmosphere. Do it yourself kind of Chinese fondue, very nice and fun. The mild spicy beef broth was pretty good. I liked the fact that you could prepare your own sauce too. The beef with cilantro was delicious, I enjoyed as well the udon noodles very much and the vegetables and mushrooms too.
Good service and great selection of skewers. The beef skewers are the best.
