Decided to stop by this place for a light breakfast. Wife got the beet juice, yogurt and I went with the salmon Benedict with hash. This was delicious! I tried some of my wife’s yogurt and it was delicious as well. Definitely recommend you stop by this place to eat.

I’ve been going to Meli Cafe for years dating back to when I started at UIC in 2008. When I moved to the area in 2018 after seven years on the east coast I was super excited to live so close to Meli. Unfortunately, over the years the quality of the food, the flavor, and the service have dropped off. I’ve been reluctant to leave a negative review as I was hoping they would get their act together, but no such luck. The downward trend start far before the pandemic and I’ve left rather disappointed after every meal. The potatoes are regularly undercooked even though they went from home fries to more of a hash. The quality of the chorizo in the spicy omelette fell off and the omelette isn’t spicy anymore. They went from using house made preserves to the regular one every other diner uses. The service is slow and they’re too busy chatting in the kitchen. I would have given 1 star but I’m being kind.

Just a regular breakfast place, but they did have vegan/gluten free options which is nice. Ordered biscuits and gravy with grits and french toast. All of it was good and service was friendly.

Pretty decent spot, quick service, knowledgeable staff. Food had some flavor. Nice decor!

We haven't eaten here in a while but always had good experiences before and this latest visit reminded us of how good their food is. My wife said they make cheese grits the way she does and she really liked them for that. My farmers bowl was delicious with nice cuts of meat and fresh veggies. Two thumbs up!

Aww you’ve got to go to Meli’s. It’s SO good and there are a ton of options so that everyone will be happy. Don’t skimp on the juices they are fresh and worth it.

The waitress will lie to you saying that ordering a bottle of champagne and orange juice is cheaper than getting just a mimosa. You will then get charged $55 for a bottle of $6 champagne and then AUTOMATICALLY charged a 18% tip for next to no service (had to tell someone to get the waitress 3 times). Food is above average though.

I finally had time to try this little breakfast/lunch diner in Greektown; but I was truly disappointed. The other location in Rivernorth is much nicer and I'm assuming run by different owners.I took a look at the menu and most of the breakfast items were priced quite high; but the smoothies and fresh raw juices were extremely well priced. I absolutely loved my raw juice so it's definitely worth ordering and priced fairly.Today was very strange though because the restaurant was absolutely packed with customers and there was only one waitress taking care of everything and everyone's orders which must have been hard for her.I sat down and patient waited and finally my server offered me coffee ☕ but since I don't drink coffee she went away pretty quickly without asking me if I was ready to place an order. She just disappeared on me even though I already knew what I wanted to order.Based on the high priced items I chose a ? carrot, apple ? and celery juice, an order of cheesy grits and one scrambled egg because I was on a budget and they didn't have freshly baked muffins so I chose what was less expensive. My juice came immediately and then I waited for a very long time before my eggs ? and grits came out.I ate the gris because I was starving and didn't feel like waiting longer for a hotter order...meaning yes my grits weren't warm they were cold. My server probably didn't have time to grab them and so they were brought to me cold. The grits were watery and obviously not prepared with enough butter or cheese so the consistency was soupy. The cashier was very kind and decided to not charge me for the grits especially because I waited so long for just a tiny breakfast request. They are definitely understaffed here and I saw a help wanted sign outside looking for full time waitstaff. What I don't understand is the fact that they made one person wait on an entire restaurant full of people and no one pitched in to help her?The menu items here aren't within my budget and since my meal and wait time was disappointing I don't feel compelled to return here.

Huge portions. Tasted very fresh. Reasonable price for the city. Nice staff.

Disappointing. English muffin is straight up burnt and the hash looks like it’s from a can, at least the hash browns and eggs were edible. Perhaps it’s a bad day, but not gunna go back to find out.
