Having had Langer's (in LA) and Katz (NYC), Manny's was disappointing. I got the brisket sandwich, others got pastrami and the beef stew. Beef stew was very good (flavorful and tender beef). The brisket was bland. Pastrami was meh. The best complement I can give was: "at least it's not salty..."$55 for 2 sandwiches with potato pancakes and 1 soda. ~$120 for 4 ppl.
An interesting place with interesting foods. The Reuben sandwich is good. Loads of flavor and crunch but it is pricey. Just over $24 for the sandwich alone is asking a lot. Spent just over $34 altogether for the sandwich, beverage, and cookie is a bit pricey. Lots of space here to find a table. Also they have a bakery in the back with merchandise available to purchase. I'd say come and visit. It's quite an experience
Great food! Friendly staff
Best deli in Chicago. Highly recommend the corned beef and pastrami. Matzo ball soup is really good too
I love a good Jewish deli. Manny's is a Chicago classic. You can always spot a guy who's getting paid to sit idling in a truck 47.5 hours a week, and sometimes spot the guy who's paying him.If you have to look at reviews for Manny's, you're not supposed to be there. You should have been taken there by your boss, who was taken there by his boss, who was taken there by his (as in, fully owned) alderman. That said, with the pandemic slow-down, food quality has suffered a bit. Nothing as fresh as it used to be, nobody piling just a little extra pastrami onto your sandwich while giving you a wink and a smile.
Very good service and good food
I love their sandwiches and my Tirkey sandwich was ready in 5 minutes...Thanks soo much
Good deli sandwiches and the other food selections looked really good too. A bit on the pricey side but we loved the potato pancakes, and really enjoyed the red velvet cake for dessert. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Once again, Obama was right when he said Manny’s was one of his Chicago favorites. We tried both the pastrami and corned beef, which were served on rye bread. We also tried a potato pancake and the Matza Ball soup. There were so many great options that we just need to keep going back again and again. The location is also a block from the Chicago Fire Academy and museum.
I’m not sure how I went 30 years without this Chicago institution in my life. I went for the first time two weeks ago, ordering online. I got a delicious half corned beef sandwich and a bowl of matzah ball soup. I loved it so much I went back a week later with my wife. I skipped the line by ordering online (pastrami sandwich and matzah ball soup this time). I can’t wait to return and eat at Manny’s next time. Absolutely sensational food and atmosphere.
