Lovely interior and pretty plates. On Tuesday before noon, the place was quite busy, but you could still find a place to sit alone or with a small company.I've heard about the place on Instagram - someone recommended their croissants as "the best in Chicago." We've ordered a plain buttery croissant, a chocolate croissant, and two cappuccinos. The croissants were soft and flaky and smelled and tasted like butter. Also, the dishes are served on pretty and lightweight plates. Other cafes often use cheap undecorated weighty platters (that you won't feel sorry if they break).Cappuccinos were decent too.We took a box of macaroons to go. They tasted like blackcurrant, lemon, mango, and raspberry (we couldn't identify the green one, though). For some reason, the restaurant seemed very noisy compared to other places of similar capacity. It was not a big deal since we didn't stay for long, but I wonder how people manage to work there or have conversations.
Everything was so good! We had the turkey bacon and onion quiche, salmon tartine, and Nutella and banana crepe. We also had the pistachio latte. Highly recommend!
Love the coffee and croissants. The salmon tartine was also delicious. The place wasn’t 100% and food took a little long. We had time so it was fine but think about it if you are on a rush
The coffee was fine. But the heavy cream was warm/smelled musty so didn’t use. Service here is always lacking (I’ve been 3-4 times) and recently we ordered a 6 pack of macarons, and they all tasted stale and incredibly crumbly. 5 stars on the cute vibe/decor.
A French bakery/cafe in Chicago serving breakfast/brunch and drinks. The vibes are very calm and European style.
I absolutely love Maison Marcel. I spend at least one afternoon here per week, often two or three. They’re always incredibly busy (no surprise there!) but they always find a way to be polite and efficient. The coffee is fantastic and so is the staff! Special shout-out to Ivana, who is just the best and I love seeing her each week! Havi runs a great spot here. Very glad to have y’all in the neighborhood!
Beautiful atmosphere! Lavender lattes must try!
Nice location and cute atmosphere, but not very french. Pictures on instagram looks great, unfortunately you don’t get what You see.
super cute gem in lakeview with tropical vibes
Food and service are spectacular. We got a pear based cocktail that highlighted cucumber; very refreshing. I also got a peach Bellini shown to the left, and it was fantastic! Very good spirit to mixer ratio. Our entree of choice was the avocado toast, which serving portion was very generous. We also tried the croissants and they were enriched with butter and toasty goodness. Will definitely be coming back!!
