The service was amazing, as was the atmosphere. The food however was just average. The pasta dish was kinda bland, the risotto was crunchy (seafood was amazing though); and the burrata pizza appetizer was just average. Chicago has so many wonderful restaurants, so skip this one!
We ALL thoroughly enjoyed our first time at Macelloâsâ it was well worth the trip to the West Loop. We were seated in the lovely garden in the back and the service was attentive and friendly. We started out âlightlyâ with arugula salads, to save room for the entrees! The special fish â wild caught Salmon, prepared in their wood-burning oven then sautéed in saffron, was served with broccolini and a shrimp & vegetable risotto. It was mouthwatering! My husband enjoyed the savory & tender Lamb Chop Casserole, served over risotto, potatoes & capers. Our son had the Braciole pasta â beef sirloin rolled with pancetta in a pomodoro sauceâ¦.it was such a generous portion that he couldnât finish it all! Although the tiramisu look awfully delicious, we were satisfied with our complementary lemoncellos and perfectly prepared entrees! Highly recommend this neighborhood gem â you can definitely trust the good reviews!
Excellent staff and food, this place never disappoints and been consistently good for over a decade.
Service was perfect. The food was mostly good....the burrata appetizer was awesome, salads were very good. The pasta seemed to taste reheated as if it was made prior. On the seafood dish, the mussels were way overcooked.

We sat outside and had a lovely dinner with friends. The food, service and ambiance were amazing. I cannot wait to dine there again!
A Friend and I went for an early dinner, we had pasta she had orecchiette with sausage and rapini and I had pasta with fresh tomatoes burrata and arugula. Both were delicious. Our waiter was excellent. My only wish is that they would add some new items on the menu.
