I’ve been thinking about if I should write this review since yesterday and finally decided to…I usually enjoy coming into this place and I really like the selection (kind of pricey, but great quality), but yesterday I came in and while I was shopping I witnessed the manager getting aggressive and yelling at multiple employees. I was stunned. I’ve seen little glimpses that the employees here might be being treated poorly before, but it seemed like kind of the usual disorganized small business stuff. I’ve worked in retail for a number of years and both as an employee and a customer, I’ve never seen something like that happen. It was shocking. As a consumer, I don’t think I’ll be able to support this place no matter how good their products are. It’s 2022 and workplace abuse isn’t cute.

Attentive staff, always take time to answer questions even when they’re really busy. Best meat and produce I’ve been able to find in the city! Shopping locally/midwest sourced is also a plus. Prices are on the higher end but well worth it IMO.

I bought some beef shanks for a beef stew a few weeks ago. When I unwrapped them I found several human hairs on them. Embedded into the meat. I contacted the store to let them know, they said their customer experience manager would contact me, they never did.

Blew away my expectations! The butcher (Jake) was knowledgeable and excited to answer all my questions. The alcohol section was loaded with local wines, beer, and spirits. The produce selection was seasonal and lovely!

Go for the best butcher in the city. Stay for the fresh, local, and somewhat hard to find produce, charcuterie and cheese section, and Cafe ( closed during covid)

Been meaning to come here for years and I am glad I finally did, now I’m hooked! The star of the show is their butcher. I ordered a beef tenderloin and the butcher was so kind. He meticulously butchered a fresh tenderloin to perfection. They had several cuts I had never heard of and he guided me through the properties of each. They even have the elusive hangar steak. As their name suggests, every item I saw was locally sourced. So nice to have a store with an environmental conscience in the city! I will return here soon.

Definitely going back. Great butcher shop, lots of spices, cheeses and liquor. Want shopping for produce but they had that too.

It’s a nice store, and by no means do I want to post negatively about a small business, but if you need bones frenched, not the place to come, as they do not know how to do it, so just prepare ahead of time for that since they also don’t know how to explain that to customers either, and will prepare your pre-ordered holiday meat on the fly as you arrive.

Very charming little spot that has an extremely extensive craft beer and cider selection, wine and champagne options are also impressive.

Stumbled upon LF and immediately felt comfortable there. The staff have always been super helpful and friendly. All recommendations have been spot on. The selection is refined and feels very personally selected vs. stocked for just bottom line. Only dined in one time (so far) and it was amazing. I'm sure the curbside switch was tough but it was a very thoughtful and responsible decision that keeps the staff and us safe. Everything about LF is world class.
