Best Chinese food ever had in the USA. Frog is tender, fish is flavorful. Phenomenal!!
Very clean and nicely renovated. Staff are nice. Food is great and spicy. Speed is good. Location is also great and we walk there from our hotel. Must be very popular with 8 locations in Chicago. Reasonably priced.
Friendly staff and delicious food. Efficient service. I just wish they speak proper English because most of their customers are having a challenging time when communicating, other than this, overall a good experience and would recommend this restaurant!
I just wanted to say that it’s soo terrible to order food here and the staff seems soo horrible and disrespectfulWhen I order here there was misunderstanding with the staff but they don’t care with the clients…!!
This is the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. First of all the lady at the front is so rude and doesn’t even know what’s on her menu. The soup I ordered was greasy and very spicy. I called back to talk to a manager and the same rude lady didn’t even let me speak to her and hung up on me.
The food is good, but extremely poor customer service. They have an app-based ordering system without any server involvement. The vegetables/tofu dishes listed there don't have any warning that they can contain meat. I am vegetarian, and ordered a tofu dish, only to find out there's meat in it when the dish arrived. When I told the server, she said it's not their fault, and we need to let them know ahead of time if we wanted the dish to be vegetarian. Since they don't take it back, I thought okay at least let me order a different dish, since the meat-eaters in my table do not need two versions of the same dish. When we flagged the waiter to let her know we want to order different dish vegetation only, she told us she ordered the first dish veg only already for us. So we ended up paying for a dish that we didn't want twice!
Food was great & hot. A bit pricy than other places. Service was nice, the employees were welcoming. I love the scenery/environment.
Because of the color of my skin I was ignored, as I was standing at the front door waiting to be helped. There were two tables with patrons (European and Asian Decent) the rest were unoccupied…One of the workers was walking through smiling at the seated patrons and goes to load plates on this cabinet. I thought she was going to walk towards me and but she didn’t and I figured she would let someone know I was waiting… I stand there for a few more minutes and the the same person comes out with more plates and proceeds back to the kitchen. I politely say excuse me 3 times elevating my voice each time as she continued to walk away. At this time I don’t want anything from here but I wanted to make someone aware of that person actions. The person I spoke to tried to make the excuse that she doesn’t speak English… As I stated you do not have to know English to acknowledge someone speaking to you… I never received an apology and I left there establishment. DO NOT PATRONIZE THEM!!! ALL PEOPLE SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT!!!
My grandmother is from south China near Sichuan and I'd frequently visit growing up. I have yet to find another restaurant in the city that reminds me more of her and delivers such powerful childhood nostalgia with each bite.Chef Zhou is a true master of his craft. The jab-jab-punch of garlic, ma la, and chili in his Dry Chili Chicken still knocks me out my seat each time even though I know to brace for flavor impact. His Mapo Tofu is genuinely "ma" spicy (ask your Chinese friends what it means if you need) and I haven't had Yu Xiang Rou Si (Pork in Garlic Sauce) this authentic since I was in Cheng Du that I can't even bring myself to call it by its English name. Our other favorites are the Garlic Fried Prawns and the famous Boiled Fish Fillet in Spicy Szechuan Sauce (Shui Zhu Yu).Mary, Edison, and Meagan make us feel like family every time we dine here. The hospitality they provide with each meal, the efforts they put in wiping and sanitizing each table, the kindness they offer each patron is inspiring. This location opened up last summer, unfortunately during both COVID and a labor shortage and has not received the publicity it deserves. Selfishly, I want this to remain my best-kept secret in Chicago but the folks that work here deserve so much more.I've always entered here with a warm welcome and left with a full heart and stomach. While my grandmother is no longer strong enough to cook, I see her culinary spirit through these doors, welcoming me in, tossing the woks, placing the dishes--asking me what I'd like to eat.Thank you, Lao Sze Chuan.
Ok, maybe they’re suffering from staff problems, but our food was supposed to be ready just after 6, and my husband waited with other disgruntled patrons until after 7:15. When he brought the food home, it was very disappointing. They hadn’t included the sauce for moo shoo pork and it was almost tasteless. Plus, not enough pancakes. The chicken in the kung pao was mostly tough and gristly, and the Mongolian beef was also tasteless. And it was not cheap! We paid over $91 for three entrees plus a small cucumber salad and small sesame ball dessert that should have cost half that. Beware this restaurant. Maybe the original was good, but now that it’s a chain it has gone straight downhill.
