If I could give if 0 stars, I would!!! Horrible experience. I will never go there again!!First of all, it took forever for out waitress to take our order. There were 2 tables that arrived after us the had water, bread & has their orders taken before us! I had to ask someone else just for bread. Then when we placed our order, the waitress tells me they ran out of the item I asked for. So, I ordered something else. When the appetizers arrived they were barely luke warm & I had to remind her again about the water. The plantains for the jibarito was undercooked. As we are sitting there eating, I hear the waiter bring food to the table behind us & they ordered the SAME thing the waitress told me they were out of. That was pretty upsetting. ?We had a party of 5, so instead of troubling the waitress to separate the checks, I paid the whole thing & my friends were going to pay me their portion. I asked for an itemized check. The total was $101. I decided that, despite the horrible service & barely warm food, I would at least tip $9.Once I got home- (I live over an hour away mind you) I looked at the receipt & she completely cheated us!!! The waitress said therewas a party of 6 & added gratuity for $15!!!!!!! I am beyond livid. She literally got a $24 because she lied!!! I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. Bad service, mediocre food & the staff obviously lacks integrity!!!
Food is great, the staff works hard to keep up with the customers. Dining area is small and they need a better ac unit. Gave them 5 stars for the food. ♥️
When you walk in the first thing you see is like a take out area. In fact, if you don't know there is a restaurant in the back, you'll probably think the take-out area IS the restaurant. Once you make your way into the back, the first thing you see is the wall murals. Traditional puertorican art of jibaros, people playing dominoes en el campo and more. Now let's talk about the food. I had the Mofongo con Chicharron de Pollo and a side order of tostones. I think the mofongo was on point. The plantains were not ripe, it was season just right and had the perfect texture. The chicken was seasoned well and fried perfectly and it went well with the mofongo. The waiter was friendly and it had a memory of an elephant. He took all of our orders with out writing anything down and got them all right. The only thing I was not happy about is that they have no air conditioning. I ask and I was told by a regular there that it's been like that for ever.I had a good time and I'm definitely coming back.
Good Puerto Rican ?? food and portions ?
I'm Puertorican, my husband and I have been living in Minnesota for the past 5 years and a half and let me tell you the food at La Bomba was Superb!Delicious, authentic, just perfect! You must visit and enjoy the best Puertorican cuisine Chicago has to offer ??
Mother's day 2022...I had an 11.30 catering order for a number of things including potato salad. First, the lady taking care of customers couldn't find my order. Then when another employee found the order. she said the potato salad would be 20 minutes so I waited. Then after forty minutes, I inquired and she said they were finishing up. So I waited while many other catering orders came and went . Finally afteran hour, I asked again and she said they were almost done while my 80 year old father sat in the car. Finally it was ready. As I walked to the car, I noticed how hot it was and decided to check. Not only was my wait an hour for a catering order that should have been ready when I arrived but they gave me a tray of mashed potatoes! I went back and nicely just asked for a refund. Again I was made to wait 10 minutes. No apology...no discount..no acknowledgement of an error..nothing..and all on Mother's day. I got home and called to speak to a manager but the same front counter lady answered and said he wasn't there. But he was as I was there over an hour and talked to him. SO SAD TO HAVE TO GIVE LA BOMBA THE WORST REVIEW EVER...BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS IMPORTANT BUT CLEARLY NOT TO FOR CATERING ORDERS..ON BUSY HOLIDAYS..WHEN YOU ARE LIED TO AND RECEIVE INCOMPETENT SERVICE, THE FOOD ISN'T THAT IMPORTANT..check your trays of you cater and avoid holidays as they can't keep up and get confused...sorry.. I will go to Jibaritos y mas from now on.
If I can give them a negative star I would. They gave me and my significant other food poisoning, their service papa relleno filling which is ground beef was under cooked and they don’t want to take responsibility, they’re cooking area looked so dirty and not kept well. It was good years back now it’s not great at all. So please if you do go to this place please CHECK YOUR MEATS BEFORE EATING IT, FOOD POSION isn’t to play with and very IT’s expensive!!!
Great service, tasty food!! One of my regular places to eat dinner!
Found this place by chance. I was hunting Puerto Rican rice and found this place.. I stay in Palos Hills and the only place that makes it, only makes it on Sunday..I brought a small pan Reasonably priced for 27.00.It was delicious and my family enjoyed it!! I will return for 3 repeat.
Food never disappoints. Always order from here wholesome PR food. Went in today for the first time ever. Was greeted by extremely friendly staff and awesome attentive waitresses. My friend and I had a great time.
